A quick comparison of some similar paints to Citadel Leadbelcher Spray, all tested out on the same basic pipe pieces. Also did some simple scratch tests for adhesion to smooth plastic without primer.

Really, really helpful video! I’ve been trying to decide what spray to use going forward and this gave me a lot to think about!

Thank you for this video. This really helped in my decision for an alternative to LB spray. All the best to your channel!

This was exactly the video I was looking for. Was looking for an alternative to leadbelcher!

Quite handy comparison , since Leadbelcher spray seems to unavailable in Europe since last August. Citadel hasn't been able to produce or keep stock of them for the 9th edition launch, the brexit new customs shenanigans, and the demand.

Hi ! Thank you for your experiment. Did you wash with soap your plastic pieces like we do a miniature ?
@hackshackgames2 жыл бұрын
Nope. No wash or sanding, just paint from the can on raw plastic.

After Krylon paint primer messed up my treelord ancient and drycha, I vowed to just shell out the money for citadel’s reliable stuff
@hackshackgames2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, only the 'fusion' line is truly plastic safe. I've used a lot of it though, and it's been entirely reliable. I've gotten bad texture grit from a couple of the Citadel primers. For most minis I use an airbrush and Badger's Stynylrez, which is fantastic. They have some metal colors in them, but they aren't so hot for color consistency and need a TON of shaking before each use.

Any issues with paint adherence? Heard metallic sprays often have such smooth finishing that non metallic acrylics have problems sticking
@hackshackgames9 ай бұрын
Not too many from these. Some had a bit of the 'grit' texture you can get with older white primers, and I wouldn't recommend them for detailed minis. I hit a copper from Kyrlon that was super fine and did have adhestion problems though.

@@hackshackgames would vallejo silver have the aforementioned gritty finish?
@hackshackgames8 ай бұрын
@@gwkang7846 I don't think so, although it's been a couple of years since I did this. Think it was mostly just the Rustoleum that did.

If anyone is still looking for an alternative; Colour Forge Steelforge Silver. It’s colour matched to leadbelcher, sprays amazing and comes in a bigger can. I’d take it over the GW stuff any day.
