Hi. No, there is no advantage. But there is an advantage to use the best ESC and the best motor together.. Note that the LRP (Nosram) ESC do not work with some motors (due to the sensor signal strength).

Hi Hye Use a motor with a strong (High gauss) rotor. Such as the Motiv MCR, The Fantom V3T, or the R1 and the good value Surpass V3 (or V4)

Hi Jorge. I am not sure. Tap the shaft on the table, and then tap the other end on the table. It sometimes seats the bearings etc, and gives a little play.

Hi. 175F (80 deg C) is as high as you want to go . Any higher and the motor will fade during the race. You also risk burning the coils if you go any hotter. 21.5T motors run hot since they have more resistance in the windings than lower turns (17.5T etc). Use the best fan to cool the motor.

The enbell bearing is replaceable in most motors, but may require some force to drift them out from the housings. Note that the Hobbywing motors use a special smaller diameter bearing.

Hi Indoors, I recommend a normal reving, but high strength rotor. Such as Motiv, Fantom or the latest R1 The reedy is very revy and hard to gear indoors.

Hi Cow Poker The 4850kv will be much more powerful , as it achieves that rating at a lower advance timing. A 13.5T can only exceed 4000kv by high advance timing (50degree) which is critical on gearing, and causes more heat loss.

Hi Billy I recommend about 6 amps for all winds (Except 21.5T) as it is the wasted power, as heat in the motor. Also as you advance past this point, the amps increase rapidly, for a very small increase in advance timing. You can set the amps a little higher (Up to 7.5A) if you have a very fast or long straight track. But watch the motor temp (no higher than in the 70s C) after the run.

Nick Adams, im also going to try and set the timing for max performance on a 10.5 using the motor analyser. Do i just set timing with an amp draw of 6A or should i also consider the KV and revs? Also, why dont all manufacturers just set the timing to a 6A draw when building if that is the sweet spot? Thanks Si

Hi Si The 6amp setting is for "Blinky" (Zero ESC timing) so that the motor performs at maximum without overheating. When using ESC with Boost and Turbo features, the motor timing is set lower at about 30 to 40 degrees. The manufactures normally set to the lower timing so that the motor is not damaged when the customer connects a turbo boosted ESC.

Hi Art A good win. The other guys. What class do they run? The motor could be 17.5T or down to 6.5T. You need to find out. 17.5T and 13.5T I recommend the R1. 6.5T , any make will have more than enough power.

Nick Adams. Thanks for getting back to me. The class is 1/10 scale c class or beginner level for now. I'd like to get good enough to get into intermediate level. 1 of the guys I was talking to runs a hobbywing 10.5t.

Hi Art Most of the new 10.5T motors should be okay. Check the temperature of the motor after a run. If it is too hot to touch, then adjust gearing, or fit a cooling fan for the motor, if there is room.

Hi Drifting , needs a contollable motor and speedo combination, for smooth throttle control. These highy tuned, high speed motors are prbably too much. Look out for drift package, which will have a suitable motor.

Ok im really struggleing to deside on a motor would you have any idea on what to get. They tent to run 10.5T motors to keep heat down

The front bearing is same as most other motors with 1/8th hole. But the rear bearing has a 3mm hole. I have not taken it out, so not sure of outer diameter.

Hi Manuel The R1, MuchMore and Hobbywing all deliver on fast asphalt tracks. The R1 is probably the easier to use. The Hobbywing has more revs.

Hi james No, they are much too big. Also a normal 2 pole Dc motor is used in most tape players.

Nick Adams The actual AC motor on my tape deck is 4 times bigger and runs at 120V mains, it’s getting slow and I want to replace it with a DC one I just want to know if its speed is stable for such application if used with a control board.

Hi James These motors are not smooth at low rpm, as they are are normally used in the 20 to 30000rpm range. However they do have a lot of torque. Normal voltage is between 7 and 12 volts The amp draw will depend upon the static timing set on the endbell, but will be at least 2 amps. the shaft is 1/8th. There are larger versions with larger shafts. Brushless motors used in record players tend to be multiple pole, for smooth pusing, and the flywheel will also smooth out the movement. I am not sure how easy it would be to maintain a constant speed even with feedback. As they have 3 coils, you will need an appropriate speed control, such as used in radio control models etc. All the best. Nick

@@awastyle9198 The Hobbywing G3 set about 50 degrees on the endbell for blinky. The end float shim should be okay with a small movement.

Hi I have tested outlaw motors , but they are always very powerful (superior) and cannot be compared to the legal versions. The whole point of Legal homologated motors is that they are supposed to be the same performance, so that racing is fair. Outlaw motors are the same as Modified Open class motors where the performance is not limited by the motors.

thank nick well i ask you because we run outlaw motor that because we dont have the logistic to check all the cars so to be simples people can run wherever motor the want the only rule is to be not lower that a 10.5

Hi Robert. There are many good 10.5T motors. But depending what is available in your Country, the R1 , Motiv, or Surpass. But there are many others especially if you using ESC boost.
