It's a quadric wave converter (most simple explanation is least squares to the 4th power), which is so close to pure sine wave that it has no effect on electronics. Only way to make a pure sine wave current is to have a spinning mechanical rotor. Considering Plank times and distances, quadric is close enough for government work.

Love my Jackery 440 as a backup power for my CPAP machine. The 440 is the big brother to the 240 shown in this video. Pros: Better than a gasoline generator. * Powers my CPAP machine for 20 to 24 hours or the first two to three nights of a natural disaster. * Provides nice clean PURE SINE WAVE invertered electricity for expensive electronics. * No power fluctuations associated with gas generators. * No noise. * No fumes. * Everything including the inverter is in one easy to carry case with easy access USB, DC and AC outlets. * Easily fits behinds the passenger seat in my car. * When not in use, holds a charge for months. So it only needs to be checked monthly. Cons: * It does take 8 hours to recharge, but I think most batteries at this price level do. For me, $500 is well worth the money to know my CPAP machine has clean power for at least the first two nights of a power outage / natural disaster without running a gasoline generator outside my house or car. Expectations: It does NOT run a regular microwave or refrigerator. Batteries that run kitchen appliances, like the ones we see in sailboats and luxury RV's, cost thousands of dollars. SV Delos has one of the best battery setups I have seen on KZfaq. They live full time on a sailboat, so for them, it is worth the extra money. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fdx0dq-ls5iWmo0.html

Just received this yesterday (June 11, 2019) as part of an Amazon Lightning Sale. Jackery has made a couple of minor changes from when the video was made. There were no two boxes labeled 1 and 2. Instead, the charger and 12 charge cable came packed inside the black zip pouch. That looks to be a good idea reducing packing cost and waste. The cables look the same. The other change is the display layout is rearranged. The battery state of charge icon is the same and the input power still shows in the upper left corner to the left of the battery icon. The output power now shows on the left side of the battery icon under the input number. The remaining battery percent that was in the lower left corner is now centered on the right side of the battery icon. The new layout may be slightly easier to read. I do not know if there are any other internal changes that can not be seen. It came 33% charged and it easily charged right up to 100% overnight. Right now I have a 4 battery AA charger plugged into the inverter and all is working well. (The AA charger is drawing about 10 watts.) Looks like it is going to be a good and versatile portable power source. I think Tom's review gives a great overview of the product!

I own the 240 and 500. We are avid hikers, campers, and travel alot. THE 240 and my opinions..... Just perfect for the carry weight to camp, beach, or hanging outside the RV. I use ours to recharge my phones, laptops, 18650/21700 and various eneloop batteries. Also I use it for my camplight, just anything you can think of without lugging alot of unnecessary weight making charging simple and quick. I use my 500 for more of a longggg term usage away from AC plug in power. So in short the 240 is just light and simple......for the price (if you can afford it or now the 300 model) why not buy it. Save the500's & 1000's for the heavy long term work. I bought the Solar package with the panels for all my models.

if you have a CPAP that uses a humidfier and heated hose it will drain in about 4 hours. If you turn those off then you can get all night. But if purchase a DC inverter because the Airsense 10 uses 24 volt. The inverter takes the 12v and boosts it to 24V a good purchase

I don't why they specify a 42 Watt limit. The charger is a constant current (about 3.6 Amps) from 11.25 volts to 25.5 volts. I use a 24 Vdc AC/DC power brick (purchased on eBay) and get 77 Watts of charge. From AC power, I get a full charge (from 0%) in about 4 hours. For DC charging, I use a boost converter (also bought on eBay). 10-30 Volts in with the output set at 25 volts. Using a 120 Watt, 12 volt solar panel, I get 82 Watts of input power and a full charge in the Jackery 240 in about 3.5 hours.

I contacted jackery and asked if it would work for my application and the detailed response i received said "yes." I was hoping you had some input n this kind of setup; basically a single 100w panel, with the jackery 240 in an enclosure. The thought process is that I have mobile power constantly supplied to the pump with using only two compoenents, the panel and the jackery. In your experience, will this unit perform 4-5 months out of the year being constantly run? Thanks Hobotech, you rock!

Very nice however I am staying with Goal Zero. I have a goal zero 1400 and I can completely recharge it in 3 hours using their 25 amp fast charger and my Honda EU2200I. Jack biggest disadvantage is it’s recharge time and because of that it’s only good for weekends camping trips, the ones you check in around 3pm Friday and out by 1pm Sunday. I strongly encourage anyone who is considering buying lithium battery packs or AGM battery packs to consider the recharge time. Again the recharge time is very important.

I got a 13 inch 2012 Mac Book Pro that uses a 60 watt charger (Mag Safe Port). Instead of using the Jackery inverter (DC-AC-DC) it would be nice to use its cigarette lighter instead. You mentioned you do this for a PC, DC-DC (I don't think you provided the link). Do you know of an adapter that could do the same for my MPB who's charger outputs 16.5 volts * 3.65 amps = 60.225 watts? And the ability to connect a Mag Safe Connection?

I bought a jackery 240 about 3 weeks ago and I've noticed something that I may just be overthinking about, and I'm trying to get other owners of the 240's opinion. I've noticed that when watching videos here on KZfaq that on some units, even like the 500 and 300 when you plug in charger to charge that the light is blue when charging and turns green when done. I've never saw a detailed video on the 240 to see if it acts the same when its done charging. Mine never turns green. It will charge up to 100% and the watts will taper down, slowly going to zero and the charger box even gets cold, from not pushing out anymore power, but the light never turns green, it always stays blue. The unit seems to function fine, and I even left it plugged up for like 12 hours just to make sure, but it never changes to green, it stays blue. Can anyone else who owns a 240 confirm if theirs stays blue or does turn green? Like I say, any other time I wouldn't think anything of it, but it's got me questioning why the 240 stays blue but the other units turn green when done

Tom it has been a while since your review. Have you found a way to charge at a faster rate or found another similarly priced product which charges at a faster rate? While on the topic of charge rates have you found USB battery packs which charge at higher rates? It would be great for a nomad to be able to charge their USB batteries and portable power stations while spending 1 or 2 hours in a Starbucks or library. Also have you found plastic plugs for the Jackery 12V plug? I have several 12V adapters which each provide 2 USB ports and 3 switched 12V outlets. Like the Jackery no plastic plugs were included.

The Jackery 240 is limited to 42 watts no matter what you connect it to. Sure, there are other units that charge faster but they aren't built as well. Most USB batteries will charge in 2-3 hours. I have Anker brand units shows on hobotech.tv/amazon. Getting my hands on a Jackery Bolt soon.
