Mine showed up Friday with the pair of 200 watt panels. So far am impressed. Has Ben running the deer shack since Friday night. Had to charge sat afternoon for about three hours with the gas Genny. To lazy to put out the panels as of yet. So far so good. Ordered one of the expansion battery also. Will let you know. For what it's worth I did wire it through a 6 slot breaker box. Works great will see. Thanks for the review on the e3000, it's why I went with the pecron e2000 and expansion. You are a riot and thanks for doing the technical testing.

That's great reveiew! Thanks Tom! As an RV traveler, I would love to choose the Pecron E2000LFP, I checked out their products and for those who don't want to spend more money on something fancy, I prefer the best value for money E2000lfp, it provides exactly the energy support I need in my RV life, I won't spend more money on marketing costs of other brands, ECO and Blue... They cost a few hundred dollars more, but the E2000lfp doesn't lose out at all when comparing the 3 of them, and I can totally use the few hundred dollars I save on my RV... Thanks Tom, I will choose E2000lfp

I ordered the Pecron during Black Friday price sale.. Used your coupon to get the E200LFP for $1,235 ish the sale price worked with the coupon. (Thank YOU!) The functionality was exactly as described. My use case is hunting camp with a HF Predator 3500 to charge the Pecron. This will give me on demand power and greatly reduce the run time of my generator. The BOUGERV 180w Solar Panels are my next addition to the system. I am going to back up my freezer with the Pecron if we have grid issues. I would have loved the addition of UPS to the device. Thank you very much for the video. : )

I own this generator (among others) and I’m pretty happy with it. I purchased it knowing it’s limitations which for me are minor. As these things become fancier (app, internal charger, UPS), I’m starting to notice that the usable battery is starting to become less and less and that they are becoming heavier and heavier. I don’t find that to be the case with this one. The idea of getting this type of capacity with the ability to add more to it , and it’s still truly portable is a big selling point. Especially at this price point. Yeah, the 60 watt vs 100 is a weird choice, and the limitations for solar charging is unfortunate but I’m still happy. I should also note that their customer service is pretty responsive and it comes with a water proof cover and a nylon bag for the accessories. Pretty good deal.

Thanks again finding the no fixed 100 / 60 watt. Are we at the point that you can put together a spreadsheet of Solar generator’s from your notes? You have years of experience as well. Also going to Solar panel’s spreadsheet. Even to the point of putting the required panels and generator’s. Together when camping or totally off grid your are dependent upon solar to recharge for the overnight or bad weather. I’m thinking it’s going to be a book. 😅 ok I’ll buy it. Time teasing Solar review. Thanks again for your work and your posting today.

If you get to test the expansion battery, I'd love to know how well they document the interconnect. The expansion might already be more interesting than the core unit, given that it has a 30A 12v XT60 output (correct gender, too!) and it's own MPPT controller, but being able to use that apparently 24v connection with other gear would be awesome.

I am not certain if it has been mentioned already but the latest version of this E2000lfp which I received recently due to an rma is now outputting 120volt ac whereas the prior version would only do 110volt. I would assume it also does output usb-c 100w pd however I don't have a usb-c powered device that will pull in 100watt, my laptop only pulls 60w even from its only power adapter. I had ordered one in August and it worked well and I really liked it however it had a strange issue with the ac inverter and the exhaust fans and that one only put out 110v, so they are making changes/improvements/revisions...so good on Pecron!

Thanks, Professor, for another great review. I've yet to see any review from someone else that even comes close to the level of detail you put into these videos. If you have some time, I have a couple of questions: If the primary reason to purchase a SG is for backup power (think, Florida) it seems to me the best option is to have UPS capability (UPS relay). That way, instead of just being stored somewhere, it can take the place of a computer/TV UPS and be used on a daily basis. Is that a fair assumption? I've gone through several tropical cyclones where we lost power. The main thing electricity is wanted for DURING a storm is the refrigerator, TV and internet. Flashlights, battery powered fans, and small power banks for phones, etc. can take care of most other needs. I know the technology (and prices) are rapidly changing, but based on my above criteria, would you have any recommendations? I've posted a couple of your videos on the Eye On The Storm blog (Yale Climate Connections) and was surprised at how many people weren't even aware these things exist. I'll post this one too later today. I got an email from YCC the other day titled, "Everything to buy if a hurricane is forecast for your area" and there wasn't even a mention of a SG. It seems to me that should be on the essential list for those that can afford one. Especially since practically every storm has someone dying of carbon monoxide poisoning from a gas powered generator. Any thoughts you may have on this will no doubt be appreciated and passed on to the EOTS blog. Thanks again, Mike

Great review, thank you! My question is, can you charge this, or any other similar power station, using a regular (not inverter) generator?
@ainttakenanyshit
@ainttakenanyshit Жыл бұрын
A "regular" generator normally has the engine running at 3600 RPM to easily make the 60 Hz required for devices. As the output is relatively clean, it should be OK to power the AC charging "brick". What you don't want to do is use any AC voltage source that has a square or modified sine wave, like in some cheaper UPS's that have a very "noisy" output. Any AC device - charging brick - will work BEST with a pure sine wave input....

@ainttakenanyshit

I think the "safest" sure way to use an external battery source is to use three 12.8 volt / 100 AH LiFePO4 batteries in series. This would give you approximately 38.4 V * 100 AH = 3840 additional Watts. If you use their spec of ~15 amps input charging using the 38.4 volts input, the input to one solar input would be approximately 576 Watts, just under the 600 Watt solar max.... As a decent 12.8 V LiFePO4 battery can be obtained for ~275 to 300 bucks * three, you would then have a total of ~ 5760 Watts of total power available for ~ 900 dollars - saving about 500 bucks over the $1399 EB3000.... With using the EB3000 @ 3072 Watts + 1920 Watts for the main box = 4992 Watts available), an ADDITIONAL 768 more Watts over using the Pecron battery..... IMPORTANT NOTE: This way to expand battery capacity will only really be good for users that don't need the FULL availability, as you only have the approximate 576 Watts available at any one moment. The EB3000 battery can/will give you the total 3072 Watts to be used at any wattage load up to the 2000 Watt inverter capacity, I.E. powering about a 1500 Watt load for ~ 1.5 hours or so.... For the high wattage user, the EB3000 will perform best....

I just purchased a PECRON E2000LFP. My RV roof space that I'm working with is 101" x 77". If I should use (2) Renogy 450 Watt Monocrystalline Solar Panel SKU: RSP450D-120x2-US, would this work? The dimensions would be perfect.

Yes they will run fine. I see them at 34 volts so it's over the minimum mentioned so you can run one on each controller.

Professor, any idea why my e2000 sounds like dial up modem? Only using about 20 to 30 watts for lights and ceiling fans. Very impressed with the unit but sounds like it's trying to start a fan, but maybe can't decide if it needs cooling or not. I guess it works great for the off grid shack but the dial up thing is irritating when it quiet in here. Is this normal?

What about a dedicated UPS ($100 to $150 for a decent one) plugged in to catch the slack (also fixable without tearing into the power pack, and they do "break"). Yes, more wires, but what the heck, it's solar baby.

Curious if you plan on doing a review of the expandable EB3000 battery? You seemed to be high on Pecron but with the EB3000 battery out 7 months now, surprised you haven't reviewed it. Are you still good with Pecron? Also, they have sales going on now. This unit is roughly $1050 (with promo code) and the EB3000 is about $1300 w/ code. That's about 47 cents/Wh 😶 Price is great but do you feel it's a quality unit for the money?

That battery came out too late to make the review and my schedule doesn't permit backpedaling. I'm waiting on the 48v EP3000 and E1500LFP. Those should be a lot more popular.

@debbiedogs1 Жыл бұрын
Yes. They have dominated for a while, it seems. Check put the Bluetti EB3A, small, LiFePO4 battery, great display (better than typical Bluetti), and can often get it for about $240! Not big capacity, but really handy.

@@debbiedogs1 I think Jackery are big because of marketing, not quality. They don't even offer LFP! In Japan, they've got their stuff into not only electronics stores, but also "home" stores selling bedsheets, shower mats etc. And JVC build licensed copies of the Jackery range. And Japan-only brand Powerarq have one model that's a recoloured Jackery (though they also have an Ecoflow Delta with a removable battery, and a Bluetti E300 but with an internal battery and no modularity... wierd brand)

Re UPS function, you say it has pass through charging; can't you just plug things into it plug in the brick? So when the power comes back on, it resumes charging. If the loads are always running off the batteries, say 500 watts , this is actually a type of UPS that provides seamless switchover, but yes does wear out the batteries more, as they are always online. But at 3,500 cycles, over 10 years, calendar aging will kill this before using it all the time would. Or am I missing something?
@HOBOTECH
@HOBOTECH Жыл бұрын
It's not a real UPS because it doesn't switch from using grid power to inverter during an outage. By leaving it plugged in and using pass through charging you'll wear the battery out over time.

@@HOBOTECH I'm becoming confused how to best use these features.. I ordered a P2001 for my first solar power system, and it sounds like I have to choose between running things on solar (daily) and using the UPS.. In order to use the UPS, it must be connected to AC power.. but then that means it'll be fully charged at all times and unable to collect solar when the sun shines.. I can't have standby power, and reduce/offset my grid power usage at the same.. This reality makes running things like refrigerators unrealistic unless I manually intervene. So, for now I suppose the plan is setting up an automated heating and cooling system.. I have enough independent units I can set half up to run on solar only with no AC power, and half on AC power to kick on only if the solar powered ones can't maintain a temperature threshold. It's important to find a way to discharge useful power as much as possible, as I'm using those grid power offsets to subsidize the cost of the equipment. I have four 100w panels on the way, nothing has arrived yet, (also have an EB3A that's never been used with solar)
