Welcome back everyone to yet another fall foliage hiking adventure. Today’s journey takes us to Hocking Hills State Park located just southeast of Columbus, Ohio. This unique park features several unique geological formations and attractions worth visiting. Throughout this episode my father and I will travel to the Ash Cave - which is a massive gorge featuring local hemlocks at the highest points and sandy sandstone-lined beaches at the bottom. Cedar Falls - which is the largest waterfall in terms of volume in the Hocking region. Another unique location featured in this episode is the Devils Bathtub - a highly concentrated area of sandstone that may seem impossible to find your way out of, Old mans cave - a vast network of caves/ streams formed over layers of sandstone and bedrock. And finally, the Rock House - which is a large cave structure nestled in the hills of Ohio. This unique object features several rooms to explore and beautiful views of the surrounding forest. Throughout this video I will do my best to showcase the scale of these large boulders and cliffs. I highly recommend visiting Hocking Hills national park due to the various hiking opportunities, geological discoveries and wildlife to photograph! During October my father and I hiked here. I recommend it because it was cool temperatures for hiking.

How long would it take approximately to visit the whole place?

This place is definitely a weekend getaway kind of place. I just went for the day and there was still alot to see. I would say maybe 2 to 3 full days then you can really take in the beauty of Hocking Hills.

I have fit in 3 in one day. I live near Hocking Hills. Me and my family have walked these trails for generations. There are other hiking trails as well as these. There's Cantwell Cliffs and Konkles Hollow as well. Konkles Hollow has a trail that takes you to the upper gorge rim. You get to look down on the forest with miles of trees and cliffs....it's stunning to behold! If you decide to go I recommend renting a cabin from Old Man's Cave Chalets. They have alot of different sized cabins for reasonable prices. Every cabin no matter what size has an enclosed hottub and a fireplace. Every cabin has secure doors and windows as well as an alarm system. I highly recommend making it a 3 day event to thoroughly enjoy all the Hocking Hills has to offer. Oh...there's a general store off 664 called Grandma Faye's. They sell firewood, homemade scooped ice cream. Anything you might need. They also have a super nice souvenier shop with things local craftsmen make from the wood in the Hocking Hills....walking sticks, wooden boxes...even toys.
