Over the years I have formulated three universal laws of photography. Here they are: Viewfinder or Display? • Viewfinder or Display?

I agree on every one of your Three Laws. I'm okay with my smaller mirrorless camera, but I agree that it presents a compromise with smaller and more complex controls. Like you, I also love shooting in Aperture Priority. To that, I add Auto ISO with a minimum shutter speed to deal with changing light on animal photography.

So true. I would add, the older you get, the smaller/lighter your travel kit needs to be. I use MFT more then my FF when not in my studio or locally.

I can totally understand that compact, lightweight gear is great when travelling. But in terms of easy handling I still prefer large (but hopefully not too heavy) cameras.

Another great video. I totally agree with rules 1 and 3. But the 2nd rule, I think it depends. I have a DSLR and a mirrorless. On the DSLR, I believe using the view finder is a must. But on the mirrorless, I feel much more comfortable holding the camera just like how you held it in the video 😅 I even like the extra potential of the tilt screen, by raising the camera higher than me, or putting it too low on the ground without me laying on the ground for the photo. After all, the view finder is now digital and thus the back screen is at least triple the size of the screen in the view finder.

Well, a tilt screen is great for many purposes. But apart from that I still prefer to press the camera against my forehead and grab the lens with my left hand.
