This was something I always wanted. A Harry potter game where I could actually go to Hogwarts, learn spells, explore an open world, make choices that impact the story, choose my own house... God, I'm just so excited for this game.

I'm kind of hoping it doesn't just let you choose your house, but sorts you based on decisions you make leading up to the sorting. Sure you could figure out how to force a specific house, but I'd like for it to be based off how your character actually acts instead of just letting you choose.

My favorite shot of the whole trailer is 0:56 because it speaks directly to two things I was really hoping for in this game, and that is, not just gorgeous, well designed Hogwarts interiors, but also the fact that it feels nuanced and alive at every corner. I’m referring to the armor reacting to the presence of the player of course. For me, the magic of any world is in the tiny stuff, the nuances of the world. What a stunning shot of the castle interiors.

In addition to it being separated from the books, the late 1800s is a good time period for this just because the wizarding world won't look like morons for not knowing about phones and other tech.

@@darkein I could see mtx being done well in this game. Cosmetics only, maybe battle pass. Of course if it is single-player, then the only thing left to monetize would be DLC, which is theoretically unlimited here. Could even involve some kind of time-travel elements and interact with Harry Potter characters.

I knew he sounded familiar! That's a great sign that the dev team drew inspiration from the original HP games. I loved the puzzles and general atmosphere of those games. The only thing we're missing now is confirmation that Jeremy Soule is the composer.

@@knaaxoo. That would heavily depend on the size of the world. If we're able to go to other countries, for example, we should be able to find Nicolas Flamel, and some historic characters that we know of. If they had actually confirmed that there won't be any characters we know other than ghosts, then that would imply that the game's story isn't long enough for Albus Dumbledore to be born, and that we won't be able to meet anyone of historical importance. Luckily, nothing in that FAQ-section says that we won't see anyone we know at all. All it says to the question "Will you see [these characters] in the game?" is "Hogwarts Legacy is set in the 1800s"

I am speechless. Thank you so much. Thank you and have such an incredible time finishing the game. We have been waiting for this for countless years. As a lifelong gamer, and an almost lifelong fan of this universe I could not be more hyped. Been thinking about the potential of a game like this for... well, you could argue 20 years in my case, and I know I’m not alone. I have played every game set in the Wizarding World since I was a kid starting with The Sorcerers Stone on PS1! And that feeling to this day remains incredible, but I have little doubt that this will be the greatest realization of not just Hogwarts, but the entire Wizarding World that we have ever seen and I am so excited to walk around this beautiful world! I hope this marks an incredible start to what Avalanche Studios will come to be known for! P.S. If there is ANY chance that the rooftops of Hogwarts could be semi-explorable... that would be a real dream come true! Ha, like the idea of flying up to the roof of Hogwarts and just catching a gorgeous view of the grounds (and some parts of the castle) is something I’ve dreamed about for years and would really make us feel like we could explore EVERY inch of the castle... which I understand is probably a more complex ask seeing as the rooftops are a bit vertical and I don’t assume climbing (a la’ Assassins Creed Syndicate or Infamous) will be part of this experience... but if it is... lucky us! But no matter what, thank you for whatever this is going to be, know that I, and we fans are all around the world are grateful! But if I could say one thing to the devs of this game it would be a quote from the trailer itself lol “Your potential... is limitless, but what form will it take?! The choices you make now... will definite a legacy of Hogwarts!”

Late 1800s just makes it even more fascinating to explore this magical world, the olden times of 1800s timeline suits the whole wizardry world more then the recent times of today. Plus new characters and a whole new story which is cool and has nothing to do with Harry potter character and story.

I'd rather them focus on creating a great open world RPG experience. If you want a good VR game you need to build the entire game from the ground up with VR as a primary focus.

Sounds like there's a good chance for more games in the future.. I also want a VR game but everything at it's time. Now I'm just happy and honestly I dont want to play this RPG in VR, it just doesn't suit tho VR because of the reasons from the first comment.

Just went onto the page go grap a ps4 or ps5 they are both consoles you can play it on and they are both cheaper depending if when the ps4 comes out it's on a Christmas sale

I have no words to describe how excited I am for this game. When I was younger and playing the Harry Potter games, I always thought it would be cool if they did an open world game where you get to be your own wizard. AND NOW ITS FINALLY HAPPENING, AAAAHHHH

@@DragonHuman00 That is actually a good thing. This means that a lot of showed scenes are actual gameplay. Performance is often one of the last things optimized in game development, so not too much to worry about.

@Interesting Dude Yeah, my thought as well. That bridge animation at 1:44 was laggy as hell, so its definitely not a cutscene. That being said, I hope they optimise it on release cause that's the performance of my laptop trying to run Witcher 3, not dev machines rendering for a trailer...

I am happy developers have pushed the game out to give it extra work, Hopefully you add lots of side quests and and difficult puzzles and even DLC in the future, I believe the best part of playing this game will be exploring while chances to grow as a character Whatever the case I will definitely be buying this and not be disappointed surly, The plot of 100 years before Harry Potter was born is sick! I have no doubt that the more substantial work that you do into this game will be a major success and one of the best Harry Potter games OF ALL TIME . Great Job I wish you all the best of luck.
