this is a full blown automotive teaching video, most if not all of the tuning adjustments i made to my project car were similar to the ones in this video. differentials, sways bars, spring rates, its crazy how a game where you drive a pinata float off a cliff you can also learn a real skill. subscribed, great video, get this man to 100k

Hoki FH5 Tuning Summary Differential: Rear Acceleration: 50-90%, scales with HP. Higher = more oversteer. Front Acceleration: 10-50%, low on track builds, high on rally. Higher = more understeer. Deceleration (Front & Back): 0-Accel%. Low = responsive. High = corner stability. Center: 50-80, low on rally builds, high on track. Higher = more oversteer. Brakes: Balance: Front = Rear braking force. More stable, understeer. Rear = Front braking force. Less stable, oversteer. Brake Pressure: Higher = Quicker locking/ABS engagement. Aero: (Only important for A+ Class) Higher = More grip, hotter tyres, lower top speed. Difference between front and back can influence under/oversteer. Damping (Keep Bump at 0.5 - 0.75x of rebound) Main Guideline: Increase stiffness on the end of the car that is not losing grip, or increase softness on the end that is losing grip. Therefore, high front setting = more rear grip. High rear setting = more front grip. Springs: Low front = oversteer Low rear = understeer Stiffness can be affected by weight balance. Ride Height: As low as possible. Antiroll Bars: Low front = oversteer Low rear = understeer Usually at around 50%- for front, 50%+ for rear. Don't bother much for RWD. Alignment: Camber: Negative camber is better for track racing. Drop a touch for base tunes. Toe: Toe out = Oversteer (Use on front in FWD/AWD for better grip) Toe in = Understeer (Use on rear in RWD for corner stability) Caster: 4-7 degrees. Gearing: Just match final drive for base tune. Lengthen 1-2 gears for high HP cars. Tires: 26-35 PSI for track. Higher front PSI is better for cornering. ____ Final Tune: Suspension: Should be between 20-80%, try to avoid bottoming out. Tyres: Step 1 - Take a corner. Step 2 - Ensure all outside tyres have negative camber. Step 3 - Heat should be around yellow-transparent. Lessen camber if the temp difference is too high. Low pressure if middle is too high. Ensure optimum contact and heat. Good racing, everyone. Edit: Holy crap this game is so good. Solid 50fps, Mid-Low too on a 6 year old GPU. Wow.

If anyone wants to save all this info, I kind of got all the first parts together. Enjoy! Differential Rear accel- higher diff causes more oversteer 50-90% (the higher hp, higher diff) Front accel- higher diff causes more understeer 10-50% on track (low track high rally) Front and rear decel- higher diff causes understeer, but a bit can help rotation Center- higher setting causes oversteer 50-80% (high track low rally) Brake Reversed, so Front= more rear force (more stable, understeer) Rear= more front force (less stable, oversteer) Braking force (leave it as is) Aero Overall high= less speed, more grip, hotter tired High front =oversteer High rear = oversteer, but understeer if too high compared to front Damping Controls spring compression/extension Bump stiffness = 50-75% rebound High bump- slower compression (Usually towards the low end of the scale in game) High front setting- more rear grip High rear setting- more front grip Low front setting- more front grip Low rear setting- more rear grip (Base leave rebound and soften a bit bump) Springs Low front- oversteer Low rear- understeer Overall higher- more response, less grip (Base usually a bit too stiff for 4x4 and fwd) Height- as low as possible without hitting the ground Antiroll bars Affects body roll (entry + midcorner balance) Low front- oversteer Low rear- understeer (Base go half soft on front and half stiff on rear for 4x4 and fwd) (Leave as is for rwd) Alignment Camber = vertical angle Toe= horizontal angle Caster= suspension angle Camber Needs adjustment using telemetry- never above 0°, (Base put a little less than the game, 1.8, 1.7 front; 1.3, 1.2 rear) Toe Very small changes Fwd and 4x4 try .1 or .2 front toe out to give oversteer (if still needed also rear toe out) Rwd try .1 or .2 rear toe in to keep rear stable Toe out- oversteer, response Toe in- understeer, stability Caster Between 4-7° Higher caster- more camber Gears Bigger first and second Try reaching end of graph Tires Controls grip, shape and temp Higher = better response, but more sudden loss of grip 26-35 psi for track (1.8-2.4 bar)

YEah. I used to go for "BIGGER HORSE POWER ONYLY GREEN UP ARROWS!!!" until I used someone else's tune for the same car that was "slower" but it ended up being so much faster than I ever could imagine. It felt glued to the road in turns and it accelerated like a bat out of hell. The top end wasn't as high but that didn't matter because I didn't have to brake as hard or as much in turns.

@subiefoxy2467
@subiefoxy2467 2 жыл бұрын
@@migueeeelet I think the verry basic gist of it is that Engine Power mostly influences top speed, whereas Torque is what gives you acceleration and makes you move of better. A saying i once heard which sums it up was this. "Power is what determines how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far you move it." I think Torque might be more important then Power but too much Torque can just make your wheels spin too much. (I think)
@migueeeelet
@migueeeelet 2 жыл бұрын
@@subiefoxy2467 Yeah, from what little I know, torque is the actual force the wheels are applying. If I'm not wrong, too much power and too little torque is what causes wheelspin

I can give two additional Tipps: Hoki mostly does tuning that’s realistic. But you can do some settings much extremer than he is suggesting. Extreme anti toll bars can help make AWD swapped cars turn better. 1 in the front 65 in the back is the starting point for AWD cars and you dial it back from there if the car tends to spin. Secondly you can go even lower with tire pressure on some cars as long temperatures are fine. 1.4 bar is something a lot of cars can handle without overheating.
@lseagle61
@lseagle61 2 жыл бұрын
@@elhomoflow any other tips like this?
@elhomoflow
@elhomoflow 2 жыл бұрын
@@lseagle61 Heavy Rims, wide rear tires (on awd), and rear Aero most of the time reduce your power index value without actually hurting your handling. It’s eather a good method to bring down your car into a lower class or spend those gained points in more power. So to boil it down: Always go with widest rear tires on AWD If you don’t mind the ugly wing rear forza aero can help reduce PI 1/65 rollbar settings on AWD can fight understeer the upper two things apply To lower your PI go for Heavy Rims, big rear rims or wide rear trackwidth.

The game still sucks with a wheel. No matter what you do it's like the car will always behave incorrectly. With a controller basically the car drives itself, but plug in a wheel and it's like every car will refuse to obey your wheel. Controllers have no place in a game with simulation physics, but what can you do, they only targeted the casual audience...

One of my mates couldn't get past the overt 'wokeness', wouldn't play it, so worth a mention. I play with a wheel/pedals, the wheel support is better with 5, as well as the vehicle physics not being so insanely tail happy. Had to do a LOT of tuning in 4 to make RWD cars even stay on the road, and a lot of wheel settings tuning to make it feel somewhat realistic. So much affirmation in this video and guidelines to stay in the know with forza and their trickery. Idk how you figured it out or how much time it took but thanks my guy. Much Respect! I got into the habit of downloading locked tunes in Forza Motorsports games and having a great time. With Horizon games, it was frustrating because there’s really no set track parameters because of the varied terrain. Frustration equaled quits for Horizon racing. So Thank You, Thank You! My sanity will return and I can finally enjoy Horizon 5. I’ll be rewatching this video a lot but at least I know now, that I can tune that under steer in AWD cars. Subscribed!

Perfect video, I made a drift tune for the fosberg 280z for the 1st time ever and spent 4 hrs doing it until it felt the way I wanted it to, I re-read each description in every tab about 7 times each after every adjustment. Finally being satisfied I saved it and then decided to find a video that could teach me something I didn't figure in correctly, this video is perfect! I didn't understand arbs that great and actually kept them on the same side of the bar instead of realizing how they actually work. This video is amazing. Thanks

Really great and informative. I'll have to follow this new guide two or three times with different builds and what the goal is, such as Rally vs. Drift. Going back over this. Rally tuning seems to be much more tricky than street. As you want a good amount of balance of acceleration and grip, so you handle through a turn then return back to a decent speed.

Hey man. I'm late to the party, but I wanted to let you know how incredibly helpful this video was. I've watched it like 10 times with the goal of getting a great class A car for road racing. I chose the 1997 Nissan GT-R V-SPEC as the base starting point. After upgrades to push this to the top of class A, and unlocking everything needed to do a full tune, then following all of your advice here...this thing is an absolute joy to drive. Still some more tweaks needed but it is definitely getting there. Thank you so much for all the hard work it took to put thus together and sharing it with the Forza community. So much more satisfying than downloading someone else's tune with the flexibility to fine tune and tweak things for individual driving preferences. That was pretty long winded, but seriously, thank you!!!

My own 2 cents, as a supplement to the info already given in the video - I find the need to tune brake balance a lot more important than it was in previous games. If you are not using ABS, learn to tune brake balance! You can brake harder and not lock your brakes as easily if it's set right. - Optimize your upgrades before you get into fine tuning. Tuning can help a lot with how a car drives, but if you're trying to get a *big* improvement in lap time, play around with upgrades first before you resort to tuning. Don't try to polish a turd! - Rivals is your best friend in helping you find out whether you are actually making improvements or not. Keep running laps until you think you've hit your peak with your current build, change your setup, run it again. Is it faster or slower? Repeat! This is where having a spreadsheet or piece of paper is helpful. Plus you get credits/xp for testing your cars.

@@xZeroGrxvity It also depends on your skill level, on higher skill level rivals tune are made be as fast as possible which almost allways means that all aero goes on to speed what not really make most comfy car on normal situation. I havent dive in rivals that mutch on fh5 but on earlier horizon games this was so extreme levels, like fh3 c-class old ford "32 was beast having something like 1000hp it was damn fast and really terrible to drive. or like on a-class i use some holden saloon with max out lambo V12 engine, that was easily able to get over 400km/h on races but every corner you basicly just drift thruw

How to tune for high downforce, s2 998 track cars. This can also work with slower cars. 1. Take front weight distribution in decimal form and subtract it with 1 to get the rear weight distribution in decimal form. 2. Multiply both decimal values with the weight of the car to get front and rear weight in kg or lbs. 3. Set your downforce in the tuning menu to the desired amount (in s2 998 this is recommended to be at the max for both sliders). Take the front downforce value and add it to the front weight you calculated in kg or lbs, then do the same for the rear downforce and rear weight. 4. Next, add both the new front and rear weights to get the total weight of the car when under the load of downforce (at an specified speed). 5. Take the front weight (the one that includes the downforce weight) and divide it by the total weight of the car that includes the downforce weight to get the weight distribution as a decimal. Do the same for the rear (PLEASE make sure the smaller number goes first in the calculator!) All of this was for getting the front and rear weight distribution of the car when it is under aerodynamic load. 6. In the tuning menu, go to rebound stiffness. Take the [new] front weight distribution and multiply it by 17, then take that answer add 3. Repeat this formula for the rear weight distribution. This is for calculating front and rear rebound stiffness. 7. Next go to bump stiffness. Multiply the front and rear rebound stiffness by a value of anywhere between 0.6 to 0.75 to get the bump stiffness. Both front and rear must be multiplied by the same decimal, so no 0.6 and 0.7. Higher downforce cars will need higher values closer to 0.75. 8. Divide the new weight of your car that includes the weight of the aerodynamic load by the ACTUAL weight of it to get the weight difference (this will be a value *greater* than 1). This time the bigger number comes BEFORE the smaller number in the calculator. 9. Next go to spring stiffness. Set the slider to the lowest value and multiply that by the weight difference factor you just calculated in step 8. Set the slider to the highest value and multiplayer that by the weight difference factor. Then subtract the new highest and lowest values to get your range value. 10. Take your NEW front and rear weight distribution decimals and multiply them by your range to get the corresponding front and rear spring stiffness. 11. Lower ride height all the way down. 12. Go to anti-roll bar stiffness. Multiply your weight difference value by 64 to get your arb range. Now this is VERY IMPORTANT to remember. Cars that have a front weight distribution less than 0.50 will have a front anti-roll bar stiffness GREATER than its rear anti-roll bar stiffness and vice versa. So this means to get the FRONT anti-roll bar stiffness, multiply the arb range by the REAR weight distribution and then add the weight difference value AFTER you have already calculated the range times weight difference. Do this to get the front and rear anti-roll bar stiffness. 13. Recommend leaving tire pressure at the default of 30. You can make low tire builds that are like F1 car tunes but that is much more complicated. So I won't be going into it. 14. Recommend leaving brake pressure at 100%, but race cars generally have brake balance anywhere from 52 to 60%. Since I tune mid engine cars that have more weight in the rear (yes even under aerodynamic load) I always set it to 54% 15. Differential settings rule of thumb is more power = higher rear acceleration percentage with the max being 75%. Rear decel should generally be the same or 5% lower than your rear accel. On AWD differentials, the front accel shouldn't ever be above 50% and the front decel should always be 0%. For the AWD power balance, the rule of thumb is higher percentage = higher top speed and more oversteer/less grip, lower percentage = lower top speed and more understeer/more grip, with the minimum you should use being 65% 16. In alignment, there is extensive testing you can do with the in game telemetry to hone in your camber and caster settings, but I'll make it simple; -3 front camber -2 rear camber. no toe adjustments at all. For caster all I can say is, 5.0 for slower cars and/or stable cars that understeer, 6.0 for faster cars and/or unstable/tail-happy cars that oversteer. Now I'm not going to go in-depth into gear tuning even though I know exactly how to because that is an entire other lengthy chapter, so all I will say is to adjust the final drive gear so that (look at the graph in the bottom right) the last gear in the series of gears intersects the redline at the very end of the right side of the graph. Yes I know this is a long comment. I hoped it helped!

@@georgejones5019 Sorry for the late reply, KZfaq didn't send me a notification. So to reiterate in mathematical formula form; This example will use a mid-rear engine hypercar with a front weight distribution _that accounts for the additional downforce weight already_ that is 44% or 0.44. So you would get this value by adding the front and rear downforce to the front and rear weight of the car, and then divide the new front/rear by the total weight of the car with the downforce acting on it (the value in the aero tuning menu usually uses the amount of downforce being produced at 120 mph). Weight difference multiplier of the actual weight of the car and the car + the downforce weight. Ex: 1.3 heavier with downforce at 120mph. ((1.3 * 64) * 0.56) + 1.3 = 47.9 which is the front anti-roll bar stiffness. ((1.3 * 64) * 0.44) + 1.3 = 37.9 which is the rear anti-roll bar stiffness. Hope this clarifies things!

@@bemo9 I don't know where you could find a good in depth description, so I'll explain it here, but I don't want to go in depth so I'll simplify it. Gear tuning can sometimes be preferential if you have somewhat of a good set up. But the jist is that you want low gears to last short and have a tall rev range for low speed acceleration, and high gears to last long and have a small rev range to squeeze out the most top speed. But you don't want to immediately switch from tall to short, you want the beginning or bottom of the gears to look like a gradually flattening curve. Sometimes you'll want a little more acceleration so the last gear could actually be lower and longer than the gear before so you don't run out of top speed. The best pointer I can give is to use the graph in the bottom right. It really helps visualize what exactly the gears are doing when you change them.
