WHAT EVEN WAS THIS SEASON PREMIER? AAAAH?
Like okay, I didn't have any specific expectations aside from planning to enjoy it immensely, but just? What? How? My expectations for the rest of the season have just skyrocketed.
I didn't expect to get so many action scenes with Christine. I didn't expect Spock to be so… Um, I'm sorry but absolutely cute in the beginning and somehow even more clueless than he usually is. I absolutely loved the first scene on the bridge with the crew and the reunion with La'an.
BUT ALL THE SPAPEL MY GOD! I initially had no plans to vid after 2x01 because I thought we'll get the best Spock and Christine together and separate scenes like… Later? But I have no idea what can top this episode. It was so beautifully painful to watch.
The whole second half of the episode absolutely killed me. Spock postponing shooting the ship with Christine for as long as he could? Spock literally closing his eyes unable to look once he had to give the order? And then forcing himself to open them and look at the wreckage knowing he might have just killed her? THE HELL. THE ACTUAL HELL. Ethan did absolutely amazing in those closeups like WOW. And then the, 'I waited for you', 'You do not die!' scene ahhhh.
I mean I know Spapel is technically not canon later down the line but there's absolutely no way they don't diverge with those two. Spock is so in love with her at this point it's like impossible to go the 'Christine has unrequired feelings later on' route.
No idea how they'll top 2x01 but I’m so looking forward to finding out. I mean at least we're also getting another kiss and them floating in space judging by the trailers, soooo. :D
Side note: I've been dying to use this quote from Discovery from the beginning and I'll probably use it in the future as well. I don't like Discovery that much but I've seen the first two seasons and this quote is just an absolute gem for any and all vids including Spock. xD Also yes, solo Spock and Christine and maybe La'an vids are definitely coming some time in the future.

right?? I understand that the way he broke down was due to the stress of everything, not just Christine nearly dying, but I choose to believe that was mainly because of her. 😂 The way our girl absolutely broke Spock... damn.

@@ForsakenWwitchery FR! He was just begging her to make it out alive, and even though she did, he was still crying that she went through it all in the first place. Get you someone who cares about you as much as Spock and Nurse Chapel care about eachother! ♥ It was the same as the finale of season 1 where Spock was blown up but the attack of the Romulans. She was trying so hard to keep it together 🥺

Towards the end he definitely was concerned for christine, especially since he kept delaying in taking the shot. Towards the end, you can see he wished he hadn't said fire

Nurse chapel for Spock is his link , his connection to his humanity, his emotions . She brings it out in him more than anyone else . It’s beautiful to witness . I want Sarek and Amanda to meet her .. if anyone would understand them it would be his parents . I just want more of them and to see where they take them cause their chemistry is beautiful … everything about this episode made me love Spock even more and nurse chapel …

oooh, yes, I would absolutely love for at least Amanda to meet Christine! And I'd love to see Sarek and Amanda in SNW, period, I'm just very curious to see what SNW can do with them and their relationship with Spock. I was really bummed that we've got a lot of their interactions with Michael in Discovery and close to none with Spock. And I agree that Christine is pretty much Spock's anchor.

@@ForsakenWwitchery yes 👍 i want more of Sarek and Amanda . I feel like it’s important for Spock to talk to his parents about Christine just for some peace of mind . Amanda would just smile and say the heart wants what it wants but also something along the line of your human side is also a part of you Spock and it is good to tap into it to see someone be able to bring it out in you , your emotions are nothing to fear . It doesn’t mean you are any less Vulcan . I also think it would be interesting to see Sarek’s point of view when it comes to Christine and Spock because of the fact he was the Vulcan who fell in love with the human. I think to some degree after Spock lost Michael in discovery which I think was the last time we saw him get emotional show his humanity even a little it was like he wanted to hide that part of himself away cause it was too painful to feel the emotions that came with the loss . If anything that is why when he almost lost Christine this episode he couldn’t bear to be away from her even when he found out she was alright because a part of him is terrified to lose her .

Somehow, there has to be a "letters home" episode where the Enterprise crew reveals more of themselves through their messages to their mates, parents, and relations. This may include a few lines from Spock to his mum that Sarek "reads" over her shoulder telling about his tour of service on Enterprise. They have to talk about it while they lie in bed at the end of the day as married couples often do. "mama. There's this girl..." "Da. What am I supposed to do?" We can watch Sarek rise through the ranks; watch Shikhar change; remember Ambassador Sovol's funeral; see how Capt. J. Archer is remembered on Earth and on Vulcan...

Nice!! I'm an older Star Trek fan (discovered original series in the 80s as a teenager) and I have been waiting YEARS to see something with these two. I couldn't be more happy with how this is going! I just saw the first ep of the 2nd season and "the scene" and immediately had to re-watch it.

The relationship between Spock and nurse chapel has been an absolute highlight of this phenomenal star trek series Ethan peck and Jess bush have been superb and i can't wait for season 3

Holy crap! There was so much shappel in the 1st ep of s2! You captured it so well with all the shappel in s1 of course! Perfect clip choices, song choice, coloring, fx, transitions. The part with Chapel on the floor and Spock so upset, OMG!!!! Just every shappel scene was just, *chefs kiss* Great job!!!!! :D

I love both this edit Spock & Chaptel's new relationship in SNW! I'm now rewatching Season 2 and I noticed the second they got together... Chapel is not ready for commitment due to her past trauma, and Spock's trying to be more emotionally available with his human emotions, but it's too much for her to handle and she wants to take her time. It's a perfect push-and-pull love story that needed more communication. UGH, I need more.

I think SNW has made Spock too emotional. It was the one thing that set him apart and unique on Trek. And yes, I know Nimoy's Spock showed flashes of emotion, but not like this.

So, this is still a "young" Spock. And, if this is canon, we KNOW the relationship between him and Nurse Chapel won't work out. Additionally, NOW we can understand why T'Pring wanted Spock DEAD (as a potential "logical" possibility) in Amok Time. She was still ANGRY ( in her own Vulcan way) at him with this apparent fling with a human; you KNOW she had to find out. It also gives us an idea why a TOS Spock would go through Pon'farr when he didn't HAVE TO. This guy is eaten up by his failures in relationships and avoids close female contact in the future. I mean, did Spock EVER have another LASTING love interest after T'Pring and Chapel? He must have gotten hurt bad or hurt others so bad that he just withdrew to LOGIC. The only love Spock seemed to handle is filial love, not the romantic kind. This actually all makes sense. Kinda!

@@GeraKhan I guess I figure if you're going to make him a Vulcan with strong human emotions, sort of like the did with the Quinto Spock, why not just make him human? Which it looks like they are doing!
