This is a look at the Phoenix Hole in the Rock hike in Papago Park. The hike is fairly easy and takes a total of 20 minutes up and down. The view includes a look at Downtown Phoenix and south towards the Phoenix zoo and Tempe Rio Salado.
Living in Arizona is quite a unique experience because of the vastness that the state offers. From the Sonoran Desert in the south to the high country in the north all the way up towards the Four Corners east and the Grand Canyon in the west. Known as the Grand Canyon state, Arizona is diverse in many ways. The state tree is the Palo Verde, the state cactus is the Saguaro, the state bird is the Cactus wren. If you are thinking about moving to Arizona feel free to subscribe and check us out on our other channels.

I use to live on 44th and Thomas and a friend and I would ride our bikes over there almost every weekend, in the early 70’s. Summer of 6th grade moved to Paradise Valley and that whole summer I would ride my bike back to my old neighborhood, meet up with my friends and ride to the Hole in the Rock, then ride back home that afternoon. 36 miles round trip, half the time I would stay the night at my friends house. It would take me about 25 years to make it back there! I remember pulling up in my Truck and going what happened to the Mountain? As a Kid it looked So much bigger😁Brought back memories! Love that Place😇

Lookout Mountain (near North Mtn) is another good hike. It is a littler harder but the view of the Valley is incredible.

I was there 3 days ago. We made the same mistake! Went at around the noon time frame. Be careful folks! It might be a small little walk from one sightseeing spot to another but my girlfriend still got heat sick on this trip. Bringing water with you is important but hydrating before is just as critical; something that a lot of people do not do a good job at. The park ranger there told us that most people who need to be rescued due to overheating have plenty of water on them when they are found but simply did not prepare physical for their trip. Jeff was smart and was only out there for 20min by himself but any longer or further please make sure you enforce the buddy system!

What time of day was your hike? I’m thinking early morning would be much better? Also, are dogs allowed on the trail? Thanks!

If you want to show people some beautiful views of that area hit the hiking trails at the 40th St trailhead and also Lookout Mountain. Just breath taking.

Thanks so much for this! Love this kind of stuff! And, like others who've said this, I agree....especially since you did this in 100 degrees! Since there are picnic tables, is there an outhouse too?

Jeff how do you find these gems? Is it safe for a woman to travel alone? Does it get cold at nite or early morning? Amazing hike. Now that I have severe bronchitis not sure if I cld do this is the summer but I am definitely going to shot something there for my store. Awesome bikini shots! Love it and thanks again for sharing. Dying to visit The Wave!
