I think that's what gets me. I'm not here because I want to compare singing. I am here because she is screaming from the depths of her soul. Her singing sounds dead inside, tired of the abuse, and to me, that's artistic genius. It's frightening, vulnerability--almost nakedness. The video shows even more.

@@decomposingdiamond7355 I never once spoke about Courtney? I said Kurt. The things he writes/sings whatever about. It makes him a feminist. I know about what Courtney said but I can separate the art from the artist. But I was mentioning Kurt not Courtney. But you’re saying a celeb/youtuber/streamer can’t be looked up to because we don’t know if they have a dark side to them or if they said Insulting things like slurs and such? What if they really didn’t? I’m gonna use Ethan from Unus Annus - he literally donated toys to children who can’t afford it. That’s someone to look up to- People looked up to Charli from Tik tok and she got cancelled. It’s about enjoying what you have until you realize - oh shit can’t look up to them. It’ll feel depressing at first but you’ll get used to it. Your logic is shit btw. You should change it.

I mean, this album breathes the same air as Nevermind, and it's prolly the greatest album by any female artist ever. Every bit as lacerating, blistering, raw and cathartic as any hardcore or English punk ever. No praise is high enough. Inexhaustible masterpiece. No wonder she could never truly follow it up. When you've been to the top of Mt. Rushmore/Mt. Olympus you cant get any higher. Although, in fairness, I still love large parts of Celebrity Skin ❤

Brave? What did she have to lose from outing Weinstein? She already has FU money from her inherited ownership stake in Nirvana, and film wise she already went as far as she will with award nominations from "The People vs. Larry Flint". As far as Hole, most successful albums "Live Through This" must have had some influence from Kurt, not that he full on wrote the songs but helped Courtney round it out. There is admittedly no direct evidence of this. "Celebrity Skin" Billy Corgan co-wrote five songs that- no one disputes; and although Courtney tried to minimize his contribution, I'm going to have to side with Corgan that's BS. In fact Hole's bassist Melissa Auf der Maur who co-composed five of "Celebrity Skin" songs left the band and joined Corgan in Smashing Pumpkins after. I like Hole's music, and I appreciate Courtney speaking up so publicly when no one else had at that time, but... uh... sorry to rain on your BRAVE and STRONG parade.

That lyric sadly reminds me of Marilyn Monroe. The crypt she is buried in the first husband, who, abused her has the one below her, and Hugh Hefner has the one above her. Both men who took advantage of her and abused her in their own ways. It’s disgusting that that was allowed to happen. Marilyn Monroe should have a grave in a beautiful field somewhere with wildflowers, growing not flanked above, and below by horny men who used her for the way she looked to make themselves famous.

We're survivors, friend. You're stronger than you will ever know. Don't let them take that away.

This song will never be the same for me. It always floods back memories of being a 14 yr old full of teenage angst but recently, about 4 wks ago, I was on my bike leaving my friends house singing along to this at the top of my lungs and I look back and see my friend Oneda giving me that look like, " girl you're crazy" . A week or two later I'm watching her die in the middle of the hwy where she got struck by a car walking across the Rd to the store. Makes my heart ache. Rest in Peace Oneda. I love you.

Sorry for your loss dude. I lost my best friend 8 years ago when she was murdered by her stalker. Not a day goes by when I don't think about her but time really does heal, but be patient with yourself. It's ok not to be ok. Stay strong.

"And the sky was amethyst" with that guitar riff at the beginning always brings me back to 8th grade hearing this for the first time and how surprised I was at how great the song is. The 90's was such a defining time for great music in all genres.

Ive always believed there must be a strong reason why Kurt loved Courtney so much. And then I started listening to hole and now i think i know why.

@@d1etpussy621 I dont know.. They were both rly fucked up at the time, with drugs n shit. I rly question myself if they were trying to save each other or just getting fckg up together. Or maybe, third option ,they just didn't think about any of this it just felt right at the time. We'll never know for sure ig

@@itskika34 this might be a unpopular opinion but as much as I am obsessed with kurt and especially courtney I have to say I reckon it was lust in the beginning and slowly ended up being a drug relationship. I genuinely believe they did love and respect and understand each other... in reality drugs ruined the relationship and I bet they ended up hating each other cos seriously that's what addiction does....( and no im not talking about anybsilky conspiracy theories about his death) no one is exempt from it not even musicians and celebrities etc...😞 i bet any couple in addiction can relate to kurt and courtney (minus the rock stardom) i know i did.... their story is so common 😞 sorry for my long rant...
