I don't like games that overshadow others despite the fact that a game like Fortnite has required much less effort and time to create than Hollow Knight, which was accomplished by 2 people, a person who worked in their workplace and an amazing sound composer.

Fortnite required a lot of crunch to design its map, aesthetic, balancing and even porting to different platforms and optimizing the engine for it all and allowing cross platform play and constantly adding content to the game. Hollow Knight in comparison took a fraction of the resources to design. Secondly, why is Fortnite a bad game? Because a game with a lot of polish and depth in combat and building is not bad

Bought Switch with The Legend of Zelda BoTW yesterday. Saw this on sale and bought it too. Haven't played it yet tho, but im looking forward to it.

Got my hands on it yesterday, I only played about 15 minutes so far but I had no regrets!

I just bought it for 4 bucks. It is now downloading. I can't wait to play it.

Fun fact : I heard this game was developed by only 2 people. this quality + 3 free DLCs + great soundtrack + low price. Some AAA games can't even make something this beautiful lol.

Let me explain. There is only so much time in a day. We constantly have to find shortcuts to become quicker at doing tasks. This allows us to complete more. Let's say someone wants to spend 60 minutes deciding what game to buy. And let's say that on average it takes 4 minutes to watch a video review, or 8 minutes to read one. Written reviews tend to be the most thorough, so they are helpful. While at the same time, watching one does allow you to actually get a glimpse of what the gameplay is like. In 60 minutes, you could watch 5 reviews and read 5 reviews. If you watch and read one review for each game, you could get information on 5 games in that hour. However, you'd only be getting one or two opinions on each game you look up. You could read/watch more for each game, but then you'd get information on fewer games instead. Compare this to looking at review scores. It talks a minute to look at a score. And, even more efficiently, it only takes a minute or two to see a chart of reviews from dozens of reviewers about a game. You could look up 30 games in an hour, and be getting the overall opinions from a huge number of people. Ideally you'd use both. The numbers help get initial attention. Then, the more in-depth reviews tell you more about if you'd actually like the game or not. The same applies to things like shopping online. When browsing Amazon, you'll likely start by looking at the thumbnail, price, and average review score to find your possible options. Once you narrow it down to one or a few items, then you tend to look at the written customer reviews. It is easy to jump on the bandwagon of hating the review score. We've all played games that got 6's or 7's that we loved. It hurts when people ridicule those games, or the people who play them. Even though most people haven't touched the game, and instead just looked at the scores. But review scores aren't just for people to be lazy. It is the inverse of the written reviews. It allows you to get a shallow opinion from a lot of people.

The only game I can think of that is about as 10/10 worthy as this is Bloodborne

Shoujikoa, I think this is an amazing game don’t get me wrong, but using a scale and giving something a ten will spark a lot of controversy, I mean look at BOTW, it is criticized for getting a ten by everyone and so they look at lots of flaws in the game, and it leads to entirely different views on the game and lots of angry people (not saying that is you) saying “why is this game a ten just like this other one with less flaws” and if it got a ten I bet when hollow knight 2 comes out everyone would be mad ;)

I think there are some small issues such as a slow starting pace that some people just don’t like. There’s also the actual challenge of it, but that’s pretty much a staple for the genre.

Charles Burrows I think the places you go before getting the dash and stuff was designed for that because to me it didn’t seem slow nor boring. I never saw that disappearing projectile bug from myself or anyone or even complained about so you probably just got hit before the animation of it ran out or something. And yeah although Hollow Knight is my favorite of all time it still has its flaws. There are pretty few of them and they are minor at most though, that is why it is my favorite. And I think here 10/10 just means masterpiece not perfect since no game is truly perfect so I would say it deserves an 10 here

The game is definitely not for everyone. Being a metroidvania, this game can be brutal for less experienced players. Besides that, I do agree that the amount content they offer for the price is a steal.

Diepvries have you played the game? If have more than 2 hours you would understand that its not repetive at all. Also, they released 3 free dlcs after the launch, improving the game and adding many new bosses. If you go for the bad ending, the game is about 20 hours, if you go for the true ending, you will easily get 40+ hours without adding any dlc content. Is this not underpriced?

AlperFlash hmmm... celeste is a great game but first of all its pretty short. Hollow knight has hours and hours of gameplay. Also i like more hollow knights amazing lore. Celeste is a great game but... i don't think its enough to beat hollow knight.

Really good game + very challenging + 3 free DLC with that price. You won't regret this : ) It took me at least 30+ hrs. just to get 100 % and more.

DevilLullaby I think Path of Pain’s OST is the same with Sealed Vessel’s OST. It is really good, of course. I have tried it for like two hours, and then i realized it is much worse than the White Palace, so i gave up on that. Watched the cut scene on KZfaq though lol.

Hansen Wind They said on gamescoop that when they highly rate a indie they get more views by putting the score out there. A lot of people wouldn't necessarily click on this video if they didn't know it was pure solid gold. I believe they did it for utter trash games too.

Might come down to your wrongful understanding of what "progression" is. You as a player progressing in how you're able to deal with the enemies matters so much more. I also feel most benches are greatly paced, but it can feel a little rough when exploring a new area for the first time and choosing a path through it that accidentally "skips" a bench.

It's good to hear that. Maybe I'll replay it now that it has so many expansions.
