Ha, it's great reading these 2-year-old hate comments about what turned out to be one of, if not the, best 2D Metroidvanias of all time. It's right up there with Super Metroid and Symphony of the Night. It could also be the best Kickstarted game, though Shovel Knight might take that prize.

Man I like I literally just got into this game, I only heard of it and starting playing like a month ago, and it's so bizarre to see how far it's come. Don't get me wrong, this trailer looks like a cool game I would play, but it also looks so astonishingly different from the one I'm playing now. I mean, obviously the foundation is there, but looking at the different areas and seeing what they are now, and the MUSIC... weird. Cool, but weird.

No I believe Shovel Knight was made by Yacht Club, but I can see the similarities in combat and maneuverability. However, don't forget that Shovel Knight was inspired by the classics as is Hollow Knight.

I've heard some people call this a metroidvania (don't know what that means so I can't confirm) this is definitely some combination of side scroller, platformer, with slight RPG elements.

Stewartsaurus The Metroidvania term comes from Metroid and Castlevania. The term is used by Castlevania fans to refer to the more recent side scroller Castlevanias inspired by Metroid's method of exploration in combination of some RPG elements like levelling up and items you can use/equip to make you stronger

Most charm won't break. The only charms that will break are ones bought from the ant in fungal wastes. You can purchase a repair from the same ant.
