"This song means more to me personally than anything I've ever written. It's the bittersweet true story of my grandparent's life together from the beginning until the end. I wrote it from the shoes of my papaw to my granny, shortly after I lost both of them. The Williams legacy side is always focused on, and I'm unbelievably proud to be in the lineage, but I didn't know Hank Williams as a grandparent. He died in 1952 and Audrey was gone before I was born. The grandparents I knew and loved and spent so much time with were Warren and June White, from a small town in Louisiana called Mer Rouge. We compiled tons of old family footage to disperse throughout this video that was shot as a live performance. It meant so much to me to make this video, I truly hope you enjoy..."

Just hit 21 years married with my man. I was so scared to get married and shaking during the ceremony. He paused the service and whispered in my ear "I choose you today and for always. You are my forever girl even if you bail. No matter what I am locked in." I breathed for the first time in my life and for once let go and never looked back. I choose him too. We are a united front and it is a powerful thing to lean into!

Stephen Thompson on NPR recommended Holly Williams in an article about another American heartbreaker, "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman. I was born in 1952, always loved Chapman, and see unkindness too often these days-it was always there but I have had a lucky life. This song reminds me how fortunate I am to be married to my husband since 1974. Fifty years next year. Holly, you made me cry and cry. Feeling is good.

This song never fails to bring tears to my eyes. I didn't know your grandparents well, only met them a few times. They were cherished friends of my cousins (their swimming pool can be seen in Warren's home movies in your video). Your mom and one of your aunts were, with my cousin Molly, part of the Sunshine Scatterers in Mer Rouge when they were kids. They held meetings that opened with the Lord's Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance plus an offering where they'd consider who in the town who might be sick, celebrating a new baby or whatever. Then, they'd deliver cookies or a card or some other way to scatter some sunshine. Years ago, I mentioned to your great aunt Genevieve how growing up in Mer Rouge must've been something special. "Oh, we never locked our doors. Somebody might need something!" Priceless! By the way, I saw Genevieve last Saturday and she looked great. She is truly a treasure and a delight.

I've been homeless for a couple years and miss my mother very much, it feels like a part of my soul is empty. I reached out to this administration And was ignored and had everything taken from me. I don't want to die but I can't Live much longer. Being alone and walking All over the country. Being denied shelter in Various places and not settling anywhere. Thanks again Holly Biggest fan, will

The best "art" is the art that speaks directly to you. It doesn't matter what the original reason for the song was or even what it is about if it speaks to you and your life. If "art" has some fire and emotion all the better in terms of songs. This song, by Holly Williams, might be the very best example I can think of right now about that type of art. Several years ago I saw Holly Williams perform this song in a song circle and Kris Kristofferson was to follow her with one of his songs 'round midnight out in the midst of the Atlantic Ocean on Cayamo. "How do you follow a song like that?," Kris said wiping tears away from both cheeks after she finished "Waiting On June." The thousand people in the audience where doing the same thing Kris was doing. What a song!

The Williams tradition of beautiful, EMOTIONAL songwriting and singing continues! This song is wonderful and your voice is fantastic! I can't imagine how you can make a God filled song about the love and lives of two people and their families, AMAZING! It brought such melancholy and loving tears! Reminds me so much of my own parents. I am 76 and have enjoyed Hank Williams all my life, literally. The first music I remember hearing at home was a Hank record on Mom's old windup victrolla. Then Hank, Jr. and all his rowdy friends lived in my life for many years. My brother, who was born in 1953, after your grandfather died, went on to follow The Drifting Cowboys, took up the steel guitar and dobro, became a lifelong member of the fan club, a devotee of Don Helms and was at the 100th birthday commeration.
