This is a review of the Hollyland Mars M1 Monitor which is an excellent choice for the Sony Fx30 or Sony FX6. This monitor not only works well in the field, but it has the ability to transmit and receive signal to a device internally, making it an excellent choice for videographers and filmmakers!

Nice review. I already own the Hollyland Mars 400S wireless system. I also own a 7" monitor that a director could use to monitor. With the Mars M1 I could have a pretty good system for production. As you said, the Mars M1 lacks a means of attaching a hood. I own the Atomos Shinobi, and I bought the kit version which comes with a sunhood and a means to attach it. The hood is well designed and works great outdoors in broad daylight. Hopefully, Hollyland will find a way of adapting a sunhood to the Mars M1. Thanks for your excellent content.

Hey Kofi, please tell your Sony contacts that it's pretty nuts they still don't have false color in the cameras and they don't allow camera control for external monitors. The technology is there and for the price they certainly should have these features on their fx line of cameras. Thanks!

Question. I film weddings and often work with a 2nd shooter. If I bought this system, would there be a way for me to put one on my camera as a monitor and then quickly switch over and see what my 2nd shooter is recording as well?

Would you recommend this over the ninja V? I know Ninja V has some quality issues aka the back plate mounts break off.

They do? I’ve had mine for a year and I’ve never even heard of that! Apple vs orange really, if you want pro res raw, ninja V, but I find more people like a wireless monitor

So I’ve been working with this for about a couple of weeks and one thing I’ve ran into is not being able to control the recording process from the monitor. Is there a way to control the record function on my fx30 from this monitor? I find it annoying that I have to reset my shot sometimes due to the camera shaking after I hit record haha.

This monitor can’t output 4k60? SMH. I just received it today and realized it doesn’t output 4k60 only 1080p60. I guess the perk is the wireless transmitter

ACTUALLY! You could , if you use an HDMI transmitter and you set your monitor to a receiver, you’d be able to do it !
