I shoot corporate video. I own an FX-6 (A Cam) and an FX-3 (B-Cam). I just ordered the FX-30 as my C Cam. When you are on a job in which the client is depending on you, you can never have too much backup. If something should go wrong with a camera a Pro needs to be able to pivot. I’ve seen jobs (signed contract, thousands paid) where a camera happens to drop from a bag or malfunctions at the worst time, etc in which the production had to stop. Why? because there were no other cameras as backup. The client is very upset (understandably so) because they expect a professional to have a backup plan just in case anything should happen. My mentor advised me of this: “you should not be in business charging people money if you don’t have a second camera body to go to in the event of an emergency. If you cannot afford two…then you cannot afford one”

Oh I agree, always keep backups !

you know what...I have watched a few of these videos....my personal take on image quality....it is now almost a question of taste...just about any 10 bit image will produce a quality shot...heck the old GH5 10bit produces a gread image...I think going forward it is a matter of taste...even noise can be a quality depending on the look you are going after..

@@KofiYeboah that mean so far the focus pro is a better system than the focus lidar of the ronin 4d, it doesn't make sense since the ronin 4d is their flagship product

In order to shoot RED you gotta perform cinema level skills and methods. You will need Davinci which is the industry standard color editing software for RED RAW footage. For the Sony you can use autofocus and use Premier Pro all day long no problem. For a mid level shooter Sony is good. Once you step into the cinema world RED is entry level

When I got the A7Cii I was hung up on the 33mp as I could have almost doubled it with the R, but then you have to look at Sensor Pixel Area a7cii is 25.88µm2 vs A7cr 14.15µm2 so really the A7Cii gives better sharpness when low light and blown up, if I am not mistaken ?

Gear only matters if everyone DOESN’T have the same gear… Let me explain. If everyone did have the SAME exact gear Roger Deakins will still come along on a shoot and beat you. The less skill you have = The more advanced gear you need to produce pro results. The more skills you have = The less advanced gear you need to produce pro results. With all of the knowledge and techniques Roger Deakins has mastered, an amateur with an ARRI Alexa 35 has very little chance of outdoing Roger Deakins even if Roger was only equipped with a Canon T2i DSLR. So…. If gear did matter, then the person with better gear (Arri Alexa) than Roger (Canon T2i) would’ve beaten him. Which just ain’t the case.

guess if ballpark the S9 as a consumer Point and shoot FullFrame. it not a pro-consumer style. or Pro cam. as the dial and button are more towards Panasonic's small consumer style Point and Shoot. :) guess the Hype for S9 to be a Pro grade cam are too high. :)

Hey Kofi... I made it about 80% the way through this video. Just some words of encouragement from a working professional who isn't in the KZfaq space. Screw 'em. You keep doing you and just block out the hate. To be damn sure if a manufacturer offered me a trip to Japan I would take it and enjoy the crap out of it. I regularly watch your content and agree with some and not with others. That is the way the world works. If people can't see past this, they need to move on... Plain and simple. Cheers!

"More to it than just us". If camera manufactures only made cameras for the content creators, they wouldn't sell many cameras. For every 1 YT'er there are thousands of people, creating images or vids for strictly personal consumption. Hobbyists doing it for years/decades before YT or TT was a thing. I enjoyed using cameras to capture vids of my children that one day when I'm gone, they may enjoy, but even that is not my primary reason. I enjoy the tech, I enjoy the process it is something of an escape from the mundane. What appeals to me is the LUT flexibility creativity and as I've grown older, I've liked editing photos and vid less. For me this may mean more time behind the camera and less behind the computer. Lots of thoughtful insights in your thoughts. Well done.

You've touched on it but I think it's worth reiterating the grip support and battery draw required for this camera. It is heavy, everything that supports it is also heavy and expensive including the crew costs. For power draw I've mostly worked with Alexa's that ran block batteries with a v-mount as back up for handheld, as with a teradek and timecode box and monitor it draws so much power.

I shot with multiple cameras over the years too, such as Arri, Red, and every other brands on the market and I can tell you that Arri produce a much much better image quality than every other brands I used. And like he said, it's so easy to operate! And fun fact, you can now in 2024, find a second hand ARRI AMIRA for the same price as a FX9, and an ARRI ALEXA MINI for less than a Red Raptor 😉
