Richard Jobson gives us the lowdown on what's happening in Hollywood, with plenty of Stateside help from Katie Wagner. Originally broadcast on Wednesday, 12th August, 1992, the lead item is an interview with Sigourney Weaver about Alien 3, while news of the closure of the Max Factor Museum is causing consternation. (I believe it was eventually incorporated into a more general movie museum that took over the building.)
Following the ad break, we have a chat with Patrick Macnee about his book Blind in One Ear and hit record Kinky Boots, but highlight of the show for me is the appearance of 'Weird Al' Yankovic discussing his parodies, with several clips to enjoy. They talk like Al was completely unknown in the UK at the time, but I'm reliably informed in the comments that he'd already had a top 40 hit over here back in 1984. There are also other brief bits of entertainment news thrown in throughout, plus the then-current top ten films in the US, which includes the likes of Universal Soldier, Sister Act, and Honey, I Blew Up the Kid.
Grateful thanks to Ben for sending me this recording.
