Big is always fantastic to re-watch too. I think Penny maintained a good connection with the silly, rambunctious kid inside her and was able to perfectly translate that perspective on the big screen.

I always think of my mother every time I watch it or see clips from it. My mother would have just loved this movie because she actually played for a small local ball team in Connecticut and becoming a professional ball player was one of her biggest adolescent fantasies before she got married back in the '40;s. She died in 1972 at 34 and this is the only film that really captured her whole attitude and personality I can use to describe her to people like her three grand daughters who never met her.. This is a very special film to me.

Poker House was a great movie 👍. I love when the girls was singing 1960's R & B Motown hits. I do remember Bokeem Woodbine was also in the movie because he played such a convincing character. I used to think he was really mean guy.

I barely made it through that movie, The Poker House, and it is great.

You gotta watch Penny's interview on the Television Aacademy Archives. I could barely understand what the hell she was saying!! Enunciation of the English language is NOT her strength! She would her run sentences together and then trail off to a mumble jumble of sounds! Constantly making smacking/sucking sounds while talking--- on top of the very heavy Bronx NY accent (NOT New Jersey.) I turned on closed captioning, hoping to get a better understanding of what she was saying! It didn't help! Close captioning was printing out nonsensical words that didn't make sense! However, I loved the interview! She and CIndy Williams together in the interview were hilarious...always disagreeing with what happened on the early days of Laverne & Shirley.

My bad. I used to be pretty good at distinction between the boroughs, however, being in the Midwest has caused me to loose my touch.

@@Blueshirts07 thanks for sharing that info because when I read the previous comment about her passing, I was like oh no. Then your comment calmed me down 😂. Lori seems like a great person and I found out that the movie poker house was her actual life story. She's beautiful and been through so much. I'm glad that a league of their own was made. A great movie 👍.
