For Marine, killing Papyrus was an emotionally devastating experience that warped her behavior for the rest of the run, making her _want_ to be stopped. When you get down to it, Papyrus is the Point of No Return for a Genocide run. Every monster up till him can be justified in that they attacked first. Papyrus is the first hurdle in cementing that you are doing a Genocide run, since he doesn't attack you. At all. You can't goad him to make the first strike. As an aside, I really liked that Marine was the only one to piece together what the dust on Chara's hands meant.

I'm really curious on how Papyrus would react if you kill Sans. I know that can't happen in the game and curiosity is literally what leads to the genocide route but I'm just interested to know what he'd do if that somehow happened.
