@@ianpayad4595 apparently they were banned in 1988. It seems like you can buy lawn darts but not the original metal pointy ones. These ones are plastic toys without points. Personally I find it dumb that they were banned, there are a ton of dangerous stuff people love playing with and with lawn darts apparently there was 1 fatality and a bunch of injuries. The one fatality led to the ban.

@@BaowSchmeowIt's a tiny bit misleading to say that they were banned for being 'unsafe.' I mean they definitely were, but like you say, they weren't especially more dangerous than most things kids played with in the 80's. And the governments of both the U.S. and Canada did give the companies that made them a list of ways they could begin producing the darts again, they basically just wanted more safety labels on the things... but by that point, the companies figured the things were too infamous to ever sell any more, so they voluntarily stopped. Who's gonna wanna buy the kid-killer? Aside from frat boys during hazing week, that is. Sorry for being pedantic. My uncle was a reporter who worked on the case at the time so he'd tell me all about it when I was younger.

I swear, Beyblades were actual weapons. I used to play a lot with them when I was young with my friends and we ended up doing the most crazy pulls, and build the most gnarly designs. And yes, sometimes you got hit real hard by them lmao. Good times. This stream, which the super fun and well made animation is portraying, brought back so many fond memories. Love myself some Watame x Botan shenanigans!

@@Gabu_nah, he knew EXACTLY what kids love. There wasn't a bad time I remember having with them even if I often scored a bruise somewhere. The only bad times I remember were when I had one in hand and noone to play with, so it was really more the boredom of spinning Beyblades on my lonesome to blame.
