I think its not a real Mitsubushi with every thing under the hood being from an outsourced Nissan Rogue. That means Nissan CVT unreliability. At least the old Outlander had a much better track record with an INVECS III programmed JATCO CVT8 vs a Nissan Xtronic JATCO CVT8.

I just bought this SUV in gray, SEL trim. It is amazing! This is my 5th Mitsubishi car in my family. They are very under appreciated. Not sure why they struggle so much in North America. You must see this in person. It feels like more than 181 HP. I hate CVT’s but this is very very different. Definitely put on your list unless you are looking for a true 3 row. I was disappointed when I was upgraded to an Outlander by Hertz in Iceland. Not long after, while doing some off-roading and B roads / gravel long driving days (5-6 hours) bad weather with strong wind and rain. a lot of cargo in the back I was blown away by this vehicle. My day drive is a Q7 S Line prestige but the Outlander outperformed and gave us amazing road handling, power, economy (plug in hybrid), off-roading (elect locking differential) and great sitting comfort for 6 hours drive a day.

3rd row seats in a crossover this size or even smaller are a good idea, but they're for other people's children. Not necessarily literally, but so your own 2 kids can each bring a friend at the same time. If you have enough spawn to fill a seven-seater on your own, it's minivan time.

i have a 2015 model 7-seater. Its nice to know you always have a spot for kids friends, the cvt in the mark3 model does not mimic gearchanges and does drone quite a bit when accelerating, but the amount of throttle can even that out quite aagreeable. The paddles are for the phev model to change the amount of regenerative braking. Instead of deleting them for the gasoline model, they reassigned the padlles to a virtual 6 speed. It cann come in handy for climbs when towing and every now and then when i take it out of economy mode and use the paddles, this middel aged family car driver feels like a rally god in a dangerously swerving suv.

I have a 2018 Outlander GT and it runs great and I highly recommend the brand to anyone. The fact that this new generation looks great with good technology is just where the door closes. Mitsubishi with this new Outlander dropped the V6 engine, dropped the GT trim, dropped the 3,500 towing capacity, and only uses ONE engine throughout all the trims regardless if you buy the Mitsubishi or Nissan trim. So the higher you go up on the Outlander trim, the only thing that will change of the amount of technology and luxury material in it. I would still recommend this to anyone who is looking for a new SUV that breaks from the same old ones you see on the road, but I would not trade my car in for this because even though it has more technology, I would honestly be downgrading from the older to the new. It seems now they most Japanese and some American brands do make good SUVs but sacrifice power with looks and technology. This new Outlander does offer AWD but it doesn't match the power from my V6 and the towing capacity. Good design though. I really like it

After driving several cars with manual transmissions including a mitsubishi, I definitely would like CVTs to paddle shifters and i am very happy that the Mitsubishi offers paddle shifters and other manufactuers as well. And I understand the mechanics and purpose of a manual transmisson whether its on an automatic or CVT. I enjoy driving and like feeling in contol and, i like to have fun changing gears as simple as that.

@@denniswright3288 yeah, I noticed that as well - so have other owners. I believe it’s caused by the fact that the upper facia/“grill,” which is connected to the hood, is not functional; meaning it doesn’t allow air to pass through to the radiator.

My previous car had a CVT with paddle shifters, and YES I did you them quite a bit. As you mentioned, it's great to produce engine braking when going downhill, and to hold on to higher RPMs if going uphill, where ordinarily the transmission will always try to shift ratios to get the best economy, but then you end up using kickdown all the time. I also used the paddles to "prime" the engine for overtaking... just knock it down a few ratios so that the engine is held in the meat of its powerband, so you get instant acceleration when you actually pull out to pass the vehicle in front. All of this won't be an issue with high output engines which are paired with CVT, like in the Subaru WRX or previous-gen Nissan Pathfinder, but most cars with CVTs are lower powered econoboxes or crossovers, so the paddles do add quite a bit of functionality to the driving experience.

I say "looks" because the materials feel great, but feel a bit hollow and they have a bit of a chinsy feel about them. I've owned a 2004 Lancer Wagon 1,6 since 2005, now just rusting in the yard. Until couple of years ago it was incredibly reliable - you could just start it and go for a decade, no major problems or break-downs, just the usual oil and brakes. Was sad to hear Nissan bought 30% of MItsu couple of years ago, that said, the last Lancer model was just a heavy facelift of the previous one... and the generation changes took for ever. That said, maybe the change of ownership was what it would take to finally get rid of the mirror regulator switches and heated seat switches which were the same for more than a decade on various models. Also - the dashboard of this new Outlander reminds somewhat of the swoopy lines of my Lancer, the model name on the bootlid is the same font, and the overall design is actually strikingly good - much better than any hodge-podge of pieces that are now the modern BMWs. So good luck, Mitsu - hope you can retain the reliability under Nissan, and out of the CRV, RAV4 and Quashqai I would go for the Outlander just for the old friendship's sake, although I would probably recommend RAV4 to any friends.

Yes. I didn't get any good video of it though. It was subtle but I noticed it. My guess is they'll issue a fix.

I wish they put this kind of interior and sun roof etc in Pajero Sports.

i have Mitsubishi cars in the pass and they were really realiable cars but their interior design/quality was not there but now me and my wife give a another opportunity to Mitsubishi and purchase this one in diamond white man let me tell you night and day difference from what Mitsubishi was before the interior and exterior is eye catching and way better quality and comfort and for 37k and all the bells and whistles is a no brainer only down side is the powertrain but it is smooth and really quiet inside the cabin this is a home rum from Mitsubishi 👏🏼 and btw we came off a range rover evoque so that alone is a lot to say

Paddle shifters seam silly on a cvt in theory. But It's almost a necessity. I have a 08 outlander and I use the paddles when getting onto the on ramps. Instead of waiting for the transmission to respond to full throttle I could just keep it in the best gear.

For ramps you can use the Low gear ⚙️ option selectable with the gear knob, its below the D..
@Exhaust_power

@@pinut187 it has the same function as the paddle shifters. But I don't have to take a hand off the wheel. Specially if the on ramp is curved and short.

Does the 2nd row fold down completely? If so that 3rd row would be perfect for my dogs and then lift up the 2nd row if I ever have passengers. Currently own a outlander sport and constantly need to remove the dog seat.

Actually I have test drive the yesterday at Melton Victoria. The SUV was good with pickup and exterior and interior wad good enough. But the suspension was really bad and road noise, mainly in highway was too loud. I was looking forward to this car but changed my mind as I often use highways. And kids didn’t like the suspension.

A Nissan with the engine being the weak point, I don’t like but that things pretty nice, wish they would’ve spent some of the money on fitting the 3.7 in there instead of a shoehorned 3rd row

Ya I was shocked by this car. The interior is one of the nicest I have scene under 35K. It’s a Rogue with a nicer interior and a 3rd row. The only let down of this car was the powertrain. Way too slow and noisy. The Interior, drive, and technology are top of the class.
