You girls really should check out Whitesnake, but the original version. After Deep Purple split David Coverdale formed Whitesnake in 1978. Jon Lord, keyboardist, and Ian Paice, drummer, were David’s band mates in Deep Purple and joined him in Whitesnake. Neil Murray on bass, Micky Moody and Bernie Marsden on guitars and you had the BEST version of Whitesnake. It was a Blues Based sound like was the norm at the time. David Coverdale and Bernie Marsden co-wrote most of Whitesnake’s best songs. Whitesnake’s later Hairband lineup’s biggest hits were re-recorded songs from Whitesnake’s earlier albums, most of those written by David and Bernie.

This is the Mark III version of Deep Purple. A very young David Coverdale on vocals and Glenn Hughes on bass/vocals. I think this was California Jam from 1974. My favorite song by this version of DP is the title track from the same album: Burn. Check out the live version from this same show! Great reaction ladies!! By the way, it has been a few years since I have seen the Goodyear blimp. It might still be a thing, but I'm not 100% sure!

Deep Purple was one of my favorite bands in high school. I graduated 50 years ago in 74 so you know how long ago that was. This was one of guitarist Richie Blackmore's favorite songs to play live. He played it with his next band Rainhow. Saw them perform this song with Ronnie James Dio singing it. They say Mistreated refers to Richie's guitar because he used to destroy a guitar on-stage at the end on their shows.

I love all the lineups of Deep Purple from 1968 to 1974. Each one has its own quirks and richness. I sugest a reaction video of the 1974 show for the performance of "Space Truckin'", where a furious Ritchie Blackmore literally set fire to the stage. This became one of the most epic events in Rock history and consequently, in Deep Purple's history.

You must learned that the Mark III era of Deep Purple were David Coverdale as lead vocalist (later he formed his own band called WHITESNAKE) Ritchie Blackmore on guitar (later he formed his own band called RAINBOW), Glenn Hughes on the bass and vocals, Jon Lord on keyboards, and Ian Paice on drums. But what you don't know is that the high notes on the voice part you listened in this song were made by GLENN HUGHES who plays the bass and also put the support vocals on most of the songs, putting those incredible high pitches, even when no camera was filming him. David Coverdale was mostly a baritone singer, so he made the lead vocals on every song and Hughes made the higher notes.

Hi ladies! I just found you, thought I'd hang out a bit and see how it goes. In my opinion (no, it ain't very humble) This is the Best line-up of Deep Purple of all the crew changes and this is Possibly the most heartfelt of their blues material. I love this song. You can hear it in his voice and SEE it on his face, he's FEELIN' it.
