Amber, generations of women have reacted just like that to Barry's voice. Priceless. Back on the Block is an *amazing* album full of LEGENDARY performers like Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, and Dizzy Gillespie, alongside modern singers, rappers, and instrumentalists. BTW, Quincy is not a new artist on your channel. He was the band leader in the We Are the World video, just like he is here

Fun Fact: Quincy Jones arranged and conducted Sinatra's 1964 album "It Might As Well Be Swing."
@rockymountainjazzfan1822
@rockymountainjazzfan1822 Жыл бұрын
He conducted the Count Basie Orchestra with Frank Sinatra for the "Sinatra at the Sands" album. Though Jones was credited as the arranger, most of the arrangements on that album were Nelson Riddle arrangements that Jones adapted to Basie's band (without a string section). Nonetheless, that album was a masterpiece. My favorite tune from that album was "Don't Worry 'bout Me"--hopefully they will react to that tune someday.

Quincy Jones is the most prolific writer/arranger in history. He has worked with most top tier musicians from Ray Charles and continuously to Michael Jackson. He has written movie scores, as well as television scores like Sandford and Son. He produced The Fresh Prince Of BelAir. His credits are more than I can recount here, but he is already in the record books with anything music. This is history.

Another thing Q did when recording Sinatra with an orchestra was to have him on stage singing with the orchestra next to him. I want you to 'feel' the power of the music. And when Q is conducting a large orchestra next to you. & You're not in a booth with headphones. You don't get to say, stop, let me redo that line every 15 minutes. You do it right! Sinatra said he liked Q because he really pushes you, he wouldn't allow you to get lazy. successful

Not because of him. Read liner notes on his albums and he did very little. Most of the songs were written and arranged by someone else. He didn’t play any instruments. He’s definitely no baby face. Teddy Riley. Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis. Now those are real producers. Quincy contributes almost nothing to the music he takes credit for

I was one of those kids who was way too grown for their age. I still remember the words to this song and I haven’t heard it in decades. I can still hear my parents yelling “time to go brush your teeth and go to bed” when this came on. My little grown ass was like “ok this song is definitely one to pay attention to”. 😅😊

Quincy Jones wrote a lot of songs for various singers, James Ingram's "Just Once" & "One hundred ways". He help produce 3 Michael Jackson's albums, "Off the wall", "Thriller" & "Bad". You should hear "Ai No Corrida". The style in Micheal Jackson's songs.

Found this song a few weeks ago and can't believe I forgot about it all these years. Led me to your video and loved your reactions. I've loved Barry White for over 50 years and my family and friends scratch their heads wondering how a 71 year old white guy goes crazy whenever one of his songs comes on the radio. I thought of a song from the album "Soul Zodiac" by Nat Adderley Sextet and Rick Holmes titled "Libra". The album has a song for for each sign of the zodiac with Holmes telling you about what the sign means backed by the jazz of Adderley. Holmes received a grammy nomination for "Best Spoken Word Recording" and I thought of "Libra" while listening to "Secret Garden". Love your site and intend to be a regular listener.

Al B. Sure was Hot in the late 80s on the romantic side of the New Jack Swing Era. He won a music contest, the Sony Innovators Talent Search where Quincy Jones picked him as the winner. His debut album in Effect mode sold 3 million copies and gave him a #1 single on the R&B charts with Nite & Day.

Al B Sure, is a great artist, check out 'Night and Day' by him. The album that this is off is called 'Back On The Block' and was a come back concept album by Quincy Jones, the main deep is voice is of course Barry White. For a track by Quincy Jones check out 'Stuff Like That' if you do check this out please do the single version as the vocal is far better.

Quincy jones writes, produces, and arranges. Quincy was one of the songwriters on this song, and was the arranger and producer. You also reacted to "We Are the World", which Quincy produced and conducted. This is from Quincy's "Back on the Block" album, a fantastic album. I have the title track running through my head right now. You should listen to it.

If you listen to the title track, make sure you listen to the 7:40 version. There is an Introduction by Q's son that adds nuance to the single and album. The title track features Ice-T (yes, Det. Tutuola), Melle Mel, Big Daddy Kane, Kool Moe Dee, Tevin Campbell, and the Andre Crouch choir (Gospel Legends).

Quincy Jones is an American Treasure / Icon better known as Q and / or The Dude. He is a musical legend who has worked with so many greats from Count Basie, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Diana Ross and of course Michael Jackson. Quincy Jones produced The Brothers Johnson "I'll Be Good For You", "Get The Out of My Face", "Strawberry Letter 23", "Stomp", James Ingram "Yah Mo B there", "Just Once" multiple Michael Jackson albums and We are the World / USA for Africa. Excellent reaction!
