I didn't have an allen key that fit so I reached inside the garbage disposal and rotated it myself with my hand until I felt what needed to come out

Hey, I'm writing this on Sunday, October 28, 2018, nearly seven years after you first posted this video. This morning, like a moron, I overstuffed our ancient garbage disposal, causing it to stop working. So, I climbed under the sink, jotted down the manufacturer and model, and typed them into Google, which brought me to your video. Taking what I learned from this (blessedly concise) clip, I was able to fix my dopey mistake and it was up and running in under five minutes. I just can't thank you enough for sharing your knowledge and experience and helping me out. Many thanks!

Best video I found for this. It worked using the tool that came with the disposal years ago as shown in video to wriggle it loose. Nothing was actually trapped in my case but coincidently I had started emptying the robo vac down the disposal. I'll stop doing that now. Appliance Service by Paul videos are so helpful.

Wooohoooo..got it! I tried several times and nothing worked. I finally got a glove and went in and pulled a dish rag that was all wound up in there, stinky, black from sitting there for a month, and wala! Fixed! I was finally able to make it turn with the disposal tool. Thank you for this video.

thank you so much for your video. The last time I had the same problem the plumber was here for approximately five seconds before he left saying it was all fixed so I knew it was something simple. I had to buy the tools off Amazon and since I couldn’t see I bought a make up mirror which showed me exactly what I needed to see underneath. I touched the reset button which didn’t make any loud click but it did make the disposal hum, so then I used the unjamming tool as instructed and now it works! And I didn’t have to call a plumber during the holidays. Thank you again 🙏!!
