So, I have to tell you, I was watching this video laying across the bed and my husband was watching wrestling. He asked me what you were doing. I told him. He wanted to know why can ground meat. We had a really great conversation about this and guess who want me to try it so he can see how it works...:) Finally he now thinks it might be a good idea to can meat!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Linda!!

Love your canning videos. I have used your method for canning ground beef and you're right - best texture and taste this way. (Especially with Zaycon meat.) Here's a tip. If you need to protect your hands from hot jars and that canning mitt is too big, try using inexpensive gardening gloves - the thin kind you get at Costco or similar stores in multipacks with the rubberized palms. I reserve one pair in these packs for canning. They are thin enough to get a good grip, and just thick enough to keep you from burning your hands for short grabs -- like tightening lids.

I appreciate it when you and others take the "for dummies" approach, not skipping any of the "everyone knows" steps . . . because there are many of us who have zero experience and need it explained in detail. Thanks.

I've started checking out your videos because of Make it March. I love the canners that explain the whys. I know not to leave my jars in my canner to cool off and I've seen other KZfaqr's leave them overnight 😱. Thank you for reminding us of the whys. It is a huge positive service for many of us. I'm going to buy my ground beef on sale tomorrow and can it for the first time. I've done other types of meat and now I can add ground to my knowledge. Thank you.

Linda, you have inspired me to try so many different things. Coming from a farming background, you brought back a lot of memories of the "good old days". Watching my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother doing these things. Even though I can't afford some of the things you have, sometimes just watching your videos make me feel better when I'm having a rough day. Thank you for all your detailed information, your enthusiasm and recipes. I watched all your videos many times but I get excited when a new one comes. Please keep up the awesome work!!!!

This is a great idea. I've canned some pickles and pepper jelly, but that is about it. I'm glad you brought up the point about using the ground beef when camping. We camp quite a bit in the fall through spring and this is definitely a time save when in the woods.

I have never canned hamburger meat but now I am going to. I love the convenience you have when you have a pantry. I really like your idea of buying things on sale and canning them. This is totally new to me and I bet to a lot of us older gals that are used to canning in the fall when our gardens are coming mature. Great idea instead of a garden you are using Costco. Helps a bunch when your tired or don’t feel good to have it in jars. THANK YOU for sharing!! Keep the videos coming!!

I've got a *bunch* of ground beef from the family farm, we had a steer butchered when my husband helped put up acres of fencing with a few of the guys. We got 1/3 of the steer. I've got the 25 qt American canner/cooker. =D My son bought me the canner for Christmas so that I can do up a bunch of canning. I haven't yet, but I certainly intend to. I even have a couple canning books. =) Research! You're so right! 🌾Merry meet 🌿

I don't know about ground beef but for turkey I pressure cook the turkey for 90 min at 10lbs pressure with a gallon of water, one onion and 3 heads of garlic and a tsp of Celtic salt. When done let it cool, pick out the turkey meat (it will be moist, juicy, and falling off the bone.) Can it in jars with the broth you made for 75 min for pints and 90 min for quarts. It will come out moist, tender, and taste deliciously roasted. We don't plan on roasting turkeys anymore. I'm going to try this with other meats as they go on sale.

Well I canned 9 pints of my ground beef this way along with 4 pints of corned beef from corned beef that I had in my canner. I had one jar of the corned beef that did not seal because I had two rubber seals stuck together (tattler lids) which I didn't notice until they were in the canner. So I went back and watched your corned beef soup again and I'm making that for dinner tonight! See how much your videos help people out with knowledge and great ideas! Thanks so much!

I'm also going to have to can my blackeyed peas because I wasn't thinking when I dumped my bag of beans to soak. I forgot I was making chili yesterday and that's to many days of beans. I got confused because my husband went shopping with me and he got excited about blackeyed peas. lol. So I'll also be canning beans for the first time. A plus.

It's like Christmas every time I go! :) Did they ever offer lobster in your area? I got some back in November 2016 and it's awesome! It came out to about $4.50/tail. I plan on buying two cases next go-around! I've got whole chickens, pork chops, pork loins, chicken breasts and skirt steaks coming up between now and early April. Yay, Zaycon!!!

You know I am beginning to think I would like that smaller canner to Linda. I found an old American regular sized one in a mobile home back in 1971.. that is the one that holds 7 quarts. Several years ago I got the bigger one, I call it the double decker. The truth is often I want to can up a small batch of something and seriously a small load, when your busy really takes so much less time to process and cool down...I might order this small one..

Hey girl, another great tutorial. I think I saw that same video you were referring to, about the person leaving the jars in the canner over night after they were processed. She turned the heat off after the processing time was up and that's how she left it till morning. Makes me realize why rules for proper caning procedures are quite strict and repetitive...sad to think the people that are following are going to get it WRONG TOO.

I am totally new to pressure canning. I finally got a canner. The "instructions" are not clear at all. I've oven canned and waterbathed a lot of things. But my new canner doesn't say how much water should be in the canner to start. Am I putting the water up to the neck? Or a couple of inches of water? If I have a second shelf in there do I need more water? Less water? I am frustrated. I feel like I'm going to loose product which I can ill afford. Does the round disc thingy go with the lip up or down first? Do I only need the disc for a second row of jars? Please help me. 🥺☹️🥺☹️

Please check your jars for cracks-chips etc before filling them and never use your naturally oily fingers to rub the rims before sealing the jars. The natural oils in your skin will cause the lids to fail much sooner than normal failure with time. I think you know this but got excited as you were doing the video. Great over all video.

Do you prefer liquid or dry canning beef? Doesn't the meat go mushy with water?

Beginner here. I just pressure canned some hamburger, but completely covered the jars with water in the process. One jar of chicken too. Do you think this will be a problem?

I would love to have you sloppy joe recipe. My husband and I were just talking about me finding one because the canned ones can be pretty sweet. Can your recipe be canned? I also buy from Zaycon and love their products. I really like your channel and all you share. Thank you.

@bollief sloppy joes is my high school years favourite thing. My friends n I back then used to race to the tuck shop to catch some as they sell so quickly and by the time you get to the front counter, they’re gone. Excited about Linda’s sloppy joe recipe, I’m sure it’ll taste amazing. Love your videos Linda. What kind of broth you use, sorry am just not familiar what that is thou, I’m so new to this kinda thing, but I’m so interested. Thanks Linda xx
