Жыл бұрынI hope your new year is going well! Matt and I had a wonderful extended break where we knocked out some long-awaited house projects. In today's visit, I thought it would be fun to recap our progress on the house since the channel started. Then I'm really excited to share our English country cottage style home remodeling and decor plans for 2023! This will involve a good deal of paint, wallpaper, new art arrangements, and antiques! I see so much love and comfort of home and family in your projects. Oh those popcorn ceilings. Our early 70's, second home, came with shag carpet, faux walnut plywood paneling, and popcorn ceilings; but thankfully, no glitter! I love your gallery walls!! Looking forward to your new projects. At 72, I'm working on a 60's, 2 BR rental. We have a wonderful little charity shop in my little city. They take great pains to inspire thrifters like me. The minutes turn in to hours, as I explore sweet treasures, and I can donate my when I decide to " declutter." LOL!

Rachel you are an inspiration. Your ideas and channel have inspired me to redo my entire house...all of my homes have been English Cottage in the past. I redid the kitchen in my last house. That house was a foreclosure and a MESS. It had dark walnut stained cabinets, Noah's Ark wallpaper and no appliances. I painted and scrubbed until the transformation was complete!! All white appliances, a beautiful green paint on the cabinets with new hardware, clean white walls and some floral curtains brought out the wonderful features that were overlooked by the horrible decor...things like beautiful beadboard and french doors out to the patio.Its amazing how much paint and elbow grease can do. My current home doesn't need as much "work" but I'm going from beach back to English Cottage...I don't care if I live in Florida..I'm a cottage girl at heart!!! God bless you and Matt for sharing with us your beautiful home and spirit!

Definitely looking forward to all the updates, painting, DIY projects, thrift hauls, etc. associated with your beautiful style…I like thrifting hauls by other KZfaqrs but I am not crazy about the shopping part because I see things I am looking for and can t get to them, LOL but, I do actually enjoy your shopping because you are very intentional on what you are there for and seem to always pick just the right item for your home…glad you are back !

You have such a lovely vision for your home. Love the patio makeover and reuse of some many beautiful things that keep your home original. In 2021 I painted my 1960’s kitchen cabinets the green you show in a lot of your inspiration pictures. My kitchen turned out beautifully and the blue and white transferware is stunning with green.

What you said was so true. My husband and I have done a lot (I should say most) home remodeling ourselves. But we are amateurs so we usually say, "Well it's not perfect but it's better than it was." 😁 You two did a TON of work. Was this all done last year? Can't wait to see what you do with your kitchen! Good morning! You and your husband sound like us. We aren't striving for perfection, just the best we can (reasonably) do! All the projects shown were done in a little over a year and a half. Good morning! Thanks for popping by today, it's always fun to compare notes with others that love crating a lovely home. Sounds like you & I have very similar color palettes. Our home color palette is blue, green, ivory, and brown! In fact, there is a visit in the works now for "Choosing and Using a Gray Green Paint Color"! There's also a bonus on how to pair it with wallpaper! I'm sorry to hear about the plumbing issues, we've definitely had our share and it's no fun - but chin up it won't last forever. I really do love how your house is turning to a gorgeous abode over the years. I myself is a new homeowner sometimes it gets a bit frustrating just thinking about finishing home projects, but I realized it doesn’t work that way especially knowing that most of what you got is an elbow grease. Facebook Marketplace and our local antique shops has really helped tremendously in my homes journey. I will be taking my time and enjoy it’s transition of transformation just like yours. We did a kitchen reno just a year ago in our 1950's bungalow and we kept some of our existing cabinetry (we love the vintage appeal) and just ordered new doors for them from a local cabinet maker. We love the results. I look forward to your next video!!!

I have a suggestion for your kitchen. In our old house we had a similar u shaped attached cabinet that stuck out in the room. We removed it - and wow so much more open. Then I bought a kitchen island from ikeas seconds area ( it was black but 1/2 off. I painted it creamy white to match the cabinets I painted. Wow- what a transformation from 60’s style to country. Another thing to keep in mind if you want white appliances is that they are appliance white and if you are planning to paint your cabinets white it is very modern white. Hard to match.. I ended up with my dream oven (European style) and then we moved 🤣🤣. I can’t wait to see what you do as I have a kitchen on my list. My house was built in 1924 but sadly they remodeled in the 60’s and got rid of all the charm and the cabinets are Formica 😢. But at least the lay out is good so I’m content and grateful for now 😊

Thank you for the suggestions. I have considered removing one set of cabinets, but as this is not our final home we will leave the cabinet for the next owner. Like you we do love our island! Originally there was a huge hanging cabinet suspended over the island ~ that we did remove and, like you said, it's so much more open! For the "white" color I'll use a warm ivory, and I don't mind a blend of creamy shades. A good layout make a huge difference! Thanks for sharing part of your journey!
