Home Depot Fire (920 Blossom Hill Rd) with Aftermath!

Home Depot at 920 Blossom Hill Rd. in South San Jose was completely engulfed in flames at 6p April 9th, 2022. This video shows the fire raging, as well as some aerial shots of the aftermath. The footage of the aftermath was filmed after active fire fighting operations had concluded, and while there was no aerial support for the fire, or flight restrictions.
Ground-based shots were obtained with a Samsung Z Fold on an electric unicycle (EUC). Aerial shots of the aftermath were obtained with a GEPRC Rocket Lite with the DJI Air Unit (DJI FPV).
I hope that everyone who worked there is safe along with anyone who was shopping at the time the fire started. 🙏

The San Jose Fire Department did an incredible job responding to and knocking down the fire. I listed to their radio traffic and flying embers were landing on the roofs of nearby homes. Impressive video.

A lot of the steel shelving looks melted. And the steel truss's too. That's one hot fire. It must have been a thousand degree's inside there. Or more.

You could feel the heat on the far side of the parking lot by the street. It was very hot indeed.

Extremely lucky the homes behind and the building beside weren't lost, they had a great water source to draft from that was fortunate...wonder what caused it...

It was caused by an arsonist to distract store employees while he shop lifted.

The Sprinkler System couldn't have been working!

There is a LOT of lumber in the rear of these stores. But you would think with a properly specified fire retardant system installed, it should have been extinguished early on. Looks like the fire trucks were just converting water to steam.

Sprinkler systems only last until the roof or their water source is compromised.
