I am a retired public-school teacher with over 30 years of experience (including 3 as a principal). For over ten years I administered a nationally normed test to Christian homeschooled high school students. Those students are bright, polite, well-adjusted, and articulate.

LOVE THIS‼️ I create my own curriculum, pray over our vision & mission, and let my kids interests (gift) lead. We are super relaxed and I get to add as much of God's word as I want! My husband COMPLETELY supports. He prays for us and trusts me with our kids education and character development. Every year I fall in love with it more and more! God is the best teacher and guide.

AMEN! This is amazing. I have a daughter 7 and one at 11. I’ve tried private school “Christian “ and the public system and neither felt right. I’m teaching them Christian values and I’m really sick of the lack of Christian values in school. So this has really spoken to me. Thank you for sharing this with me.

I so love this. I'm almost finished homeschooling high school with my girls. I'm grappling with this: How does this translate to university? I can't reconcile sending them to learn anti-family, anti-God, anti-authority worldviews in the universities I see.

Hi Mrs. Smith. I think I may be able to give you some reason to destress a bit about this situation. I recently graduated as a Bio major from a southern university. Yes, universities have gone completely out of control, but I will be absolutely honest with you here... if they stick to a STEM major (I can't really speak for others) then they'll have very miniscule engagement with what you're talking about. Unfortunately, as a Bio major, I got all the evolution stuff shoved down my throat, and I hated every class I had to take regarding it. I'll say this, even as a Bio major, once we got past the evolution garbage, the rest of the class was honestly not too bad. The worst classes I had were evolutionary biology and my 2 intro Bio classes. I feel that this can be very comforting to you because outside of Biology, there's pretty much little to no engagement with anti-God rhetoric within STEM majors. Unfortunately, your daughters will have to take some electives, but even then, the worst they might engage with is probably gender studies, anything sociology or philosophy. From my personal experience, I took the 2 latter, and it only made me want to be more of a Christian as I saw the flaws in much of their lines of reasoning. I'm not a parent, but if I were you and your daughters wanted to take a class like this I would encourage them, not make them run away because there is still value in it as Voddie was speaking about. The science of thoughts and behaviors can be very beautiful, and it's sad that people put their agenda into it. I would encourage your daughters to stay in God's Word throughout college as I did. Sorry this is so long, I just have so much to say about this topic. I would encourage them to pursue something in STEM that is not biology, however, again Biology can be very beautiful to study and for honoring God but they will certainly need to stay in God's Word, probably more so than most majors. From my experience, I think Chemistry would absolutely be perfect. I love Chemistry and there is not a bit of the anti-God rhetoric in that field. Please don't take this as a note to deter your daughters from what they love. Universities can have their evil ways for sure, but God is so much stronger and His marvelous Creation is in every ounce of this world in every aspect and because of the intelligence He has given us, we can explore His Creation and give Him the respect He deserves. Lastly, outside of science, other than gender studies majors and perhaps some English majors I really don't think there's that much of an attack on Christianity. I could be wrong, I'm just not quite familiar with those. They attack science the most because science is where God's proof is. As far as the whole lifestyle on college campuses with the sex and alcohol and everything else... trust your judgment and trust that you have raised your daughters in such a way that they will put God first. Pray every day for them and keep in touch. Universities have their devilish ways, but intelligence, education, and hard work all belong to God, and with proper discernment, college can be a beautiful and wonderful place. I truly wish your family all the best Mrs. Smith. If you have any questions that I may be able to answer, I would love to help. I got saved my 2nd year of college, and I would say I've been under some serious attack for my mind and soul by my university. I've done this mostly without the help of friends or family. It's been solely God helping me fight this fight, so with your parenting and your daughters fighting all for each other, I'm sure you all can do very well.

So I 💯 agree with everything. We even took our MS son out of public school to disciple him. My dilemma is that I’ve been a public school teacher for over 25 years. I’m a special education behavior specialist. I don’t feed their agenda to the kids I service but I’m still part of it somehow. I don’t feel as good about my job as I used to, even though I have helped many, many kids and families, AND other teachers. Can a Gospel believing Christian fit into the public school system? If I knew then what I know now, I don’t think I would have chosen this field

Hello Gabriel, I am currently working on my music education degree, and I wrestled with this question a bunch. I want to encourage you that you can be a public school teacher and still follow a biblical worldview. The key is to see your position as a missionary and not as a career. Know that you are going into a lost system, and know that it is not because you think the system is good, but rather because many of the kids in there need Christ, and you may be the link God uses to reach out to them. That being said, it is very possible that you can lose your job if you teach Christ. Be wise and discerning; don’t indoctrinate, but guide. May Matthew 5:19 be a guideline: “Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven” (LSB). In short, don’t teach your students to follow secular humanism, but guide them towards Christ however you can in the public school system. There’s a lot more that can be said, but I hope this helps even if just a little bit. God bless you on your journey.

@@alexharmonymusic3068 I agree and apply everything you have said. I’m just going through it the opposite direction of what you are where I have been doing it already for 25 years and have only recently dug deep into the Gospel. So I tend to question what I HAVE BEEN doing instead of what I WILL do. Your words do shed some more light. Especially the Matthew 5:19. Thanks!!!

I agree with you when you say heaven is not like the cities on earth. I disagree with Voddie on this matter. However, i don't feel like he meant ill. Your words are a bit too harsh. By the way, i live in the city but my heart desire it to move to the country one day.😊

You lost me when youGod's things and I say this with the utmost respect for you until you came for the country. People are not hiding by moving to the country. It is a conviction, can't you see that the cities are hotbeds of sin. Don't get too excited to a point where you start inserting your opinion on the things of God and I say this with the utmost respect and as one who got convicted a couple of years ago to leave the city. It's not about stretching the legs, don't say that. Don't try to diminish the quiet life one can live in the country which has helped a lot of people find purpose and meaning without the chaos of the city. Secondly, you can't possibly think that Jerusalem or heaven is the kind of city we see in our world, you just can't possibly think that. By the way I'm a devoted homeschool single mom, left the city and currently lives in the country with my daughter. Don't speak as though you are in the place of God knowing what He desires for each person. There is nothing wrong about country living stop making it sound like there is and the city is it. God presides over our lives don't say such statements. Be humble! Also Vaudie, it's not about what you want - don't be so arrogant. ''I want my children. I don't want my children to hide from the city ..'' You have no idea what God has planned for your children, they might be the first to leave you in the city. Again, NO ONE IS HIDING FROM THE CITY. YOU PREFER THE CITY, OTHERS WERE REMOVED FROM IT BY THE SAME GOD. You don't know everything, good Lord, humble yourself before the Lord!

I would love to encourage you to go back and listen again; I think there was a misunderstanding. He has NO ISSUE WITH PEOPLE GOING TO THE COUNTRY. He was just saying that instead of fleeing from the world in fear, parents should be purposeful in their choices. As children approach adulthood, they should be able to defend their faith and have a desire to evangelize. Jesus ate with sinners, but he also warns that a stone should be tied on the neck of someone who causes a child to stumble. So Voddie is just encouraging people to not lose sight of that. He definitely gives opinion mixed with his talk, but it wasn’t meant to attack people who move out of major cities. Many blessings to you!
