Home for a Gnome? Or Honk for a Gonk!

Several of my friends, like ‪@DeansWoodworking‬ for example, have been turning gonks and gnomes for a while now. I turned a hat a couple of weeks ago for a challenge and decided that this hat simply needed a Gonk to go under it. That’s what we’re doing in this video. This is a first for me, so come along for the journey ASMS learn along faith me.

Nice gonk! I actually have my first one on the lathe. But no video of this one, I was just needing something to turn on a break between editing the next video and shooting for the one after. Maybe an upcoming video tho! Wes @ Piedra Designs

What is the tool you use for sanding looks neat

I believe you’re referring to the red angle drill. It was a cheapy that I got years ago. I was pretty sure it would go out quickly so I bought 2. The second one is still in the box, never been out. Very handy for sanding bowls and other turnings.

@@hawkeyeshawkeyes7468 I believe that is the Ny-lock system. I got them from Wood Turners Wonders. The only drawback is that they cannot be used with the drill in reverse. They will spin off immediately. I have 5 of them, 1 for each grit that I use. Hope that helps.
