Cute little guy. I made some of the earlier versions a couple of years ago and they went over well as Christmas give aways for my friends and family. The other thing that I borrowed from you than went over well was the small hand bell you posted several years back. One thing I do when turning the noses or that could also work for Brother John's hand is to turn them the opposite way to what you do. I form the round part first so it can be totally sanded on the lathe, then part down to a 1/4" tenon, do any final touch ups to the sanding and finishing ( the 1/4" tenon is plenty strong enough for these little things ) and then saw it off with a flush cut saw. I find that way a little faster.

Fun project - I like that little fellow.

One option, for the fur, wet it, comb it into a part where you want to cut, then... cut.

Brother John is a really cute idea for a fun turn.

Seems like a more efficient approach would be to turn the fist and nose on the outboard end and part off the tenon near the chuck. Then you could do the sanding on the lathe.

if you trim the beard a bit, and put PITTY! on the sign you could make mr T version as well. would make a great gift 😀
