You can do it! I'm single as well and with channels like this there is nothing you can't do unless it takes manly strength. In those cases I call my son for his brawn.

wow the caulking tips are gonna save me so much! each time my inspector mentioned caulking brick and wood outside it made me nervous. now that i know it's basically the same as indoor caulk, which im great at, i can save some money. thank you!!! im 31 single women and no dad or brothers to help. i feel so much more confident after closing yesterday :)

Weeeee! 😁 I'm a lady homeowner and I knew almost all of this and have the tools to include the water shutoff key. My roof is fairly new less than 5 years but great tip to check ceilings in the closets for leaks occasionally. I'm like a bloodhound checking every nook and cranny in general since I'm doing renos. I gave up on contractors for trying to take advantage of me. I'm learning to do everything I can myself. I subscribed after watching your first vid about wood rot around the bay window. I'll be using your channel as a resource going forward.

Gr8 informative video! A few things that need addressing once in a while are drains, breakers and water shut off valves. Drains need scrubbing once in a while (shower and bath sinks especially). Electrical panel breakers should be flipped once in a while as well to make sure they operate properly, are not blackened or stuck and maintain their position. Water shut offs (sinks, toilets, washer, etc.), especially the non-ball valves, need to be shut off and opened at least once a year to make sure they are not seized or leaky... always good when in an emergency. Home Mender Thanks... one more thing not to forget, in cold country, cleaning out (vacuuming) baseboard heaters/radiators and making sure airflow is unobstructed makes for more comfortable heating season. Trust me... I know ;)

Great tips.. I would add: 1. If water is leaking from the bottom of the disposal, that means it's toast, just make sure it's not just up around the ring. If water is not leaking through it, it can be saved! 2. If you have an old inner tube from a bike, cut a section out to wrap around pipes, not only does it protect like the towel but adds grip strength. 3. If you can't find your shut off, call your water company, they will tell you what's what. Usually on the phone (ask me how I know this) 4. Look for and locate your plumping cleanouts and there may be a bush on top of them and you will need to know where they are if you have plumbing work done. 5. Go watch more of Justin's videos, he is a great teacher and his videos don't waste your time with fluff and over-explaining.

You're a cool dude. All great tips, just wanted to add to your first point. If you do have to flush the toilet with the water cut off, rather than pouring water directly into the bowl and risking some splash up in your face and/or looking at some gnarly stuff, take the top off the back tank and pour it directly into there. Then flush like normal. Cheers buddy.

chichilavida so awesome chic! So happy to have you. electrical outlets are simple. You got this. Oh geez i just realized I have no outlet videos on here! It’s going on the list. They’re super simple. Thank you. I learned so much. I live in a mobile home and wasn't taught where my water turn off was when we moved in. Yep we had a coupler break and it was a while until the landlord showed up. Of course, I followed him to see where it was.I hope you make more of these quick type and maybe a mobile home one as I learned they are kind of different than brick and mortar ones.

I got fined $65 for turning off my water at the street. Then they came out and replaced the cover with one that has security bolts in it. Luckily now I have a cutoff on the inside right past the meter.

Sink & toilet hoses should be replaced every 5-10 years, braided steel hoses still have rubber inside. I had one break and caused a lot of expensive damage.

hey james.. it's probably because the valve isn't open all the way or seized partially shut over the years...I would try changing the cut off. i hope this helps.
