Hello, I built this sauna for around £450. Took me 3 months to build working on it a few hours a week. I wouldnt class myself as a joiner but with the right tools this would be an easy project for an average D.I.Y er........

@@daz8418 it was a 15kg cylinder. Try your local tip....sometimes they will let them go for nothing. I used a local building merchants and got the kingspan cheap as is was slightly damaged. The wood is pine not cedar way cheaper. Just try to get ship latt, with not many knots in it as they I found store heat! 😳

Tris Tan Hi thanks for the loverly comment. the back of the stove I welded a 4” pipe and elbow, the flue is has a 4” to 6” adaptor that allows the flue to slide over and fits tightly against the pipe adaptor. Sorry but I’ve not got any pictures of me fitting this.

great stuff! so far this has been the best source for finding info on low budget sauna spec. I have a question, what chimney insulation would you recommend? The internet is awash with different options but I can't something to fit my project for a cheap price (similar spec to your sauna). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello, can I ask you a question? What about smoke running inside sauna? Is there a lot of smoke or just a bit or you just don't notice some smoke smell? And what's the highest temp the sauna can get to? :) Thx a lot, seems like a great job!
@pjack2008
@pjack2008 7 жыл бұрын
Hello, with the height of the flue being around 2m there is little or no smoke at all due to the amount of draw up the flue, Again there is no real smoke smell other than first lighting the fire. I've seen temperatures of 80 degrees! but that was far too hot for me so keep it around 70 degrees which is a lot more bearable. Thank you for the comments very appreciated.

Hello, Thank you for your kind comments. The sauna has two air vents one directly behind the stove at floor level, the other is about head hight behind one of the benches. I'm happy with the temp ive been getting it up to but ive been experimenting with different fuels, Coal and wood pellets. these seam to keep temp alot better.

colum77 Hello, thanks for your question. I bought the wood as it came from the diy store. It’s pressure treated but that’s all. I went with pine as it was the cheaper option. I haven’t had any issue with mould at all. I would say make sure you have a vent near the bottom of your stove and one up high near one of the corners. Good luck with your build. Cheers Phil.

Hi @pjack2008, I'm in the process of building a sauna in my garden using a wooden stove inside the sauna, but my parents are afraid of carbon monoxide/ missing oxygen in the room because of the stove. Did you make these considerations, and what led you to put the stove inside the sauna still? Maybe you know any source I can use to convince my parents there's little carbon monoxide danger, especially since I'll keep the floor open? Paul
@pjack2008
@pjack2008 4 жыл бұрын
papa paule Hi how are you? What I did was buy a cheap carbon monoxide monitor off eBay. Also I build the sauna with two vents. One low and behind the stove it’s self the other up at the top above one of the seats just to have good air flow. I placed the sauna stove inside the sauna to retain all its heat and also be able to place water on the stones to make the steam. What I would say also is make sure the flue is air tight and doesn’t allow any smoke to escape into the sauna. Hope all this helps and good luck with your build. Phil.
