Who are the brownie, "bannik" and "ovinnik"? Why do they let the cat go first when moving to a new house? Where does the "kikimora" live and why was this word used to call not only an evil spirit, but also witchcraft objects?
Olga Vladimirovna Golubkova, Candidate of Historical Sciences, senior researcher at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, tells.
