East Slavic settlers in Siberia began drinking tea in the modern sense of the drink quite late. Various fragrant herbs were brewed for much longer. Giving a guest tea became an obligatory habit of a hospitable host, and the samovar was a great value and decoration of the house. Interestingly, tea drinking was often combined not with sweets, but with something salty, such as sauerkraut or cucumber. The video was prepared as part of the project “Important Things: Traditions and Life of Russian Migrants in Siberia,” implemented with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives in 2023-2024.
