quick question, you have a 16 input patch bay, but your adat extension strip has inputs to the front, do you only use the patch bay for the 6 inputs in the back of the 18i20?

Hi! I just got my first rack made. But I am not sure it is isolating the voltage from my preamp into my audio interface. I think the rails are conducting the electricity. Is this an issue? How could I know there is a problem? Can you please help? Thanks!

TY this is helpful, TY. I just set up a new rack with a few XLR stereo components, in a small studio , with one microphone and a DAW Computer with USB Mixer with XLR out and in and USB out and in Mixer FX INSERT SABINE Anti-Feedback Compressor/expander/gate 166XL tc M-One XL multi FX Crown power amp I had other gear too but I removed it as it seemed redundant.. What I wonder is - what rules or guidelines do people use when connecting gear like this? Like MIXER first and daisy-chain the rest on no particular order? Or , since the sabine is ONLY for the mic, connect the mic to IT then connect that output to the mixer? Should the compressor go before the FX? My big concern is I get everything connected, then NO sound, and .. WHERE TO BEGIN!? TY for advice and suggestions!

Why have the thing that brings the focusrite inputs to the front if you’re gonna have the other thing providing more inputs anyway?

Very useful video. Just a question regarding the headamp. I understand there is a dedicated line from a guitar/bass to the aux on the back for the "more me" monitoring (mostly on the TRS connectors). My question will be how can I also bring the signal from the guitar to my mixer at the same time. This solution is great for rehearsal but how can I send two signals of my guitar to the Mixer ( I have a tascam 12) and to the HeadAmp at the same time. Just confused. thanks

mult or a send, pre fader could probably work, it is very limited though!

I'm so confused I've got a very basic home studio rn but I'm looking to set it up for recording my band but I'm rlly confused with what I need to do that I get I need an audio interface but there's like 7000 variations with different nobs and sliders

I would start by figuring out how many audio inputs you need to record at once. Most of them are based on that. Dont get a single input unit if you’re going to be recording drums, but you make not need 8-16 inputs if you only ever plan on recording simpler instruments like electric guitar.

are you not having an issue with focusrite's decision to no longer update or support their controller software? Its ok, if you never upgrade your daw or would like to try a plugin....just sayin. i got ate up by it, too. i guess i will keep it as a legacy rig for the things i do like about it. still sucks to have to buy another computer and interface. i am going to do much more in-depth research, asking/reading and such from trusted sources. live and learn.
