I use steel door frames and a steel hard door for added security. Tested and ZERO FAILURE.

I have high grade security doors on all three entry doors and rolling security shutters for the windows, the criminal will just move on, too much effort to get in. The security doors mount into solid wood with 12 bolts per door and the frames are built out to prevent prying with crow bars. The shutters are proven against criminals, storms-weather and preventing heat gain into the house. Since all of this was put in there has been no attempts to get in. Even the power panel is locked.

also, men have more muscle than women, metal baseball bats are more heavy duty than wooden baseball bats, and if the burglar has a gun and if your windows are not bullet proof you're a goner. one option I would recommend, barricade all the possible entrances someway somehow. one thing I do is use spare bricks I have in my backyard, I put those in front of the windows and doors and layer them from bottom to top another thing I would recommend is if you have a tall heavy duty standing shelf with a bunch of things on it, that would definitely help if put against a door or window. If you don't have any of those, get one of those electric floor shock mats that people used for pets to prevent their pets from running out the house every time the front door opens, paint it the same color as your floor to the point where it's matches the floor exactly to the point where no one can tell it's there from the outside of your window, grab a container that's the same color as your floor, same shape as the electric floor mat but tall enough to add water but short enough not to reach by hand from the outside of your window and a wider than your window to the point where no one can move it from the outside if anything grabs a few screws to screw in the container to the floor. with the electric floor mat, cut the rubber off the cord to expose the wires, put the electric floor mat into the container then add water. if someone breaks through the window first thing the burglar will do is stick their leg through, they step in the container the electric floor mat will shock the person trying to get in. grab a large fan of air freshener spray, empty it out, fill with, any alcohol or oil-based fragrances, pepper spices from your kitchen, pepper spray, mace, battery acid a combination of this does major damage but be careful when filling a can of this stuff, wear heavy duty goggles and gloves use tongs as well just to be safe when filled add the cap to seal add tape around the seal the lid down and write it in case of emergency or some kind of warning sign that says it's not to be used as air freshener. make sure to have a pair of steel toe boots around, metal bats by the bed if your bed is right under a window for those of you who live in a one story home, and who have a two story home with a tall tree very close to the home that's climbable from the ground up. another thing that works is sheet metal to cover the windows from the inside. if the person outside tries to bat down your window, they'll just break the window and dent the metal they won't get in as long as you screw it down. for your front door, get a bunch of locks add it to your door top to bottom if you really want to piss off anyone trying to break into your home :D if you don't have much use what you have in your home, anything that has weight to it, to the point where it needs two people to lift, use it to barricade.
