I never will forget putting a copper roof on a anesthesiologist's home and he showed us his theatre . He had the Nautilus speakers by b&w which were $60,000 by themselves . I thought they were some kind of art pieces , so beautiful and strange looking at the same time . Most incredible system I've ever heard . He haf a total of about 20 speakers and high end equipment that I didn't even know existed . Needless to say , I've been a huge b&w fan since .

You can get the 805d3 used for under 5 grand on ebay. Add a rel sub and you are damn near at 803 or 802 sound for less than half the price. In a smaller room they might even sound better than the bigger speakers because the placement is much more forgiving. Those m-1 speakers that this guy in the video is using in this system for surrounds are $250 each. You can hear them at best buy (with a magnolia in it). They are using very similar tweeters to the Nautilus speakers you heard. Pair them with a little sub and they sound pretty friggin amazing. Go listen to them. They are leagues better than the Klipsch speakers people seem to normally use. They dont sound so bright and smeared with those awful compression horns in them. Leave the horns for giant multiplex theaters where they need cheap spl. We dont need cheap spl, we aren't pressurizing rooms the size of a shopping mall...

A few things which are not mentioned but probably there ... 1. A decent speed and robust home network. 2. Decent if not exceptional cabling and power conditioning. (particularly on the front wall gear). 3. Consider design, control programming/config, install, setup and handover/training costs too. Nice set up. Yup mentioned at the end but I'd def consider the projector/screen.

Great setup, beautiful system. Very good idea to use a separate amplifier for the three fronts. Only thing I differ is the amplifier choice, Arcam is ok, specially the FMJ, but for such great speakers there are much better choices. This from an audiophile perspective which also likes Home Theather. Anyway congratulations for that awesome system, also very good taste indeed.

Would then lower the tv as well. Replace the 77" with the new 98" Sony 8K. Would also look at dialing in room acoustics and treatments starting with an all wool Capel rug from New Zealand. Just my thoughts Giovanni and Youthman - enjoy.

I was about critique it for not having a projector until the end when you said he was getting one. Some people get so hung up on the audio (that was me also) that they forget that is 50/50 visual and audio. A large 100"+ screen makes you think your equipment sounds better, after getting a projector/110" setup my family and friends thought I bought new speakers as well. My OLED TV is collecting dust and only being watched by the kids and their friends.

There's nothing like a REL subwoofer. SVS are fantastic monsters but the Rel's have the speed, punch and sheer velocity that i'v never heard before. Even the REL Quake (smallest sub ever) went down to 21hz and sounded incredible. Also B&W make lovely stuff, just like KEF. Both very expensive though.
@Youthman
@Youthman 5 жыл бұрын
That was one thing I noticed is that the REL did not have the slam that I’m used to but they were so refined, punchy and still had a lot of output, just much smoother.

Speakers are fine. My only critique is how high the TV sits. Its going to give you neck ache looking up or you have to recline and look up I guess. Either way, this is minor and that system is fabulous and with the right idea of spending the most on the front 3 channels. Edit * Just caught the projector part!

@@Youthman so I managed to dig up the Atmos installation guidelines and in the section about use of existing equipment (just before it talks about overhead speakers) it says: "Note: Dipole surround speakers are not recommended for use for Dolby Atmos playback" which I believe is because the wide dispersion muddies the directionality. I'm sure Klipsch will loan you some more monopoles to have a go with, would make an interesting video!

It shouldn’t. I have owned three amplifiers (B&K, Parasound and Sherbourn) over the years. I could not hear a difference between the three. The purpose of an amplifier is not to color the sound, but to amplify the signal being sent so it should be as neutral as possible

Youthman, exactly! I carefully chose each piece of this HT for been high end with the quality I wanted. People don’t think these components are high quality and they are not cheap. They are not from Walmart not Radio Shack. When I get the 805s, I will have almost $40k just on all the speakers. That’s the cost I am willing to pay and afford for one of the best brands in the industry. The Rels are almost $10k with tax and that does not cover the rest of the equipment. $4k for AVR plus tax, $5500 for the Arcam, $5k for the Savant system, $3000 in AudioQuest, $10k on OLED $2000 in lighting, $600 in Oppo, $5000 in Auto Shades, $2000 in BDI Caninet, $9k in theater seating, the room itself coast more the $25k to build (part of the $250k home remodeling), $700 is ceiling fan, $3000 in room tables and accessories. It adds up! People just like to criticize what they can’t have. It’s call Envy. But that’s OK, that’s what I worked so hard for to enjoy the thing I dreamed about. God has been good to me. To him be the glory.

If youre spending the cash on B&W 8 series speakers, you are generally designing the system to play music well. The TV is an afterthought. Hell, I thought the TV was fine.
