Powertec Levergym Hacks Part 6
My Powertec Levergym Hacks series continues. Many of the exercises in this video are staples in my current strength training routine. However, I’m not sure if any of these exercises are Powertec approved; so if you choose to try anything in this video or in this Levergym Hack series, do so at your own risk and at the risk of damaging the Levergym.

Great hacks video once again mate! The fact that you have made it to part 6 is testimony of both how so very versatile the lever gym is and on how well you can approach the machine and work all these hacks out. I am sure you can even figure of a part 7 given more time! In this offering particularly like the refinements on the neck hack and the seated calf raise. Very well done to you sir. I do wonder if powertec started the lever gym design with the prior knowledge on it's sheers potential versatility? Or total fluke beyond the fundamental movements it is shown to do directly from powertec? Perhaps somewhere in between the two? What are your thoughts bud? Also to answer your question, like like lever hacks part 1 as this led me to this Chanel. I do however like all of the offerings in this series. I can vaguely recall part 2 and/or 3 also being very useful in particular. I am leaving a collection of information to leave my son should, God forbid, anything happen to me before he is old enough to learn from myself directly. Other than that, just for my own refreshment of information every now and then. BS free weight training and nutrition advise being just a couple of these subjects. That said I will watch the 6 part series over again later as I am not working today. I shall probably download them to add to the collection so the powertec levergym's full potential can be seen. A wonderful single station piece that is great as a stand alone machine for people with a minimum of space, and a perfect companion in my opinion to either the bench attachments or for the convenience of a weight stack, a body Solid G6B. A two station powerhouse machine home gym setup. Many thanks for your good work and for sharing for findings on the levergym. It is greatly appreciated.
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 7 ай бұрын
I sincerely appreciate your comment. Thank you. That’s a great question I would also like to know the answer to. My guess is Powertec had the basics in mind and then a few users like me had to get creative due to limited equipment. A great deal of this hack series can go back nearly 10 years when all I had was the Multipress and Powertec Smith with the High / Low Pulley. At the time, I was doing DC Training, which requires a lot of equipment, and I had to figure out all kinds of different exercises for each muscle group. The Multipress is where I originally found out I could turn the opposite direction for a press…then later I figured out that worked even better on the Levergym for a more natural flat press. Thanks again!
@johnpain8380
@johnpain8380 7 ай бұрын
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Yes I have looked into DC training prompted by your previous mentions. One does benefit from a home gym set up with multi stations with DC for sure. Something that can even be tricky to do in a public gym on the busier times. For me I love the training potentials and options of multi station, distraction free home gym training. Thus I have a full sized half rack (very similar to rep fitness) with storage posts and jammer arms, full commercial ladder bench, powertec levergym, multi station, bench attachments, body solid g6b, dumbbells and a full range weight stack cable crossover plus plenty of attachments and accessories. For cardio/warm ups - a treadmill, bike and heavy bag. All in a 21-21 foot space. Like you though, I love the levergym! I have been in a position in the past where I only had room for a pair of heavy duty squat stands, weights, barbell and fold away bench that I stored in a garden shed and could take outsideonly when not raining. I have also been in a position where I had a levergym a d weights only. Both of the above in my experience are the best "all in one" setups one can have to get ones training covered well 'in a pinch' and with a minimal of space and easy enough to move it needs be. For that reason the levergym is a legendary price of training equipment that i will not be without (just in case). although I still use it for certain exercises despite my other equipment options at present. Also it is so handy to use the lever arms during a stretching routine I find. You alone prove to people how the powertec levergym really is a master class in one stop multi gym excellence. I do mean it when I offer my thanks and of course, keep up the good work buddy. Much respect.

Thank you. That’s a tough call. I discuss that dilemma briefly in my Powertec Lat Machine review. I think the Multipress is a better pressing station for the flat press and decline, but if you only do Incline presses, I would pick the Levergym because of the band pegs (which I’ve been incorporating a lot lately) and all the added variety the Levergym offers. I ideas for a seated chest press?
@HomeGymHacksandReviews

It’s difficult to get a true 90 degree seated chest press with a high / low pulley; the variations I show here are about as close as I can get without modifying the machine.

What thickness of rubber flooring would you recommend for machines like the levergym?
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 6 ай бұрын
The Levergym really doesn’t need any flooring. If you check out my video, “Building My Powertec Spare Bedroom Gym,” I had the Levergym on my hardwood floors for a year. Also, Powertec sells footplates for the Levergym that are covered in rubber - I have a video showcasing those too. With all that said, I think it’s tough to beat the good ol’ 6’ x 4’ x 3/4” horse stall mats; I’ve always used them in every garage gym and basement gym I’ve had.

Try adding a couple carabiners to the cables and / or separate the bench from the Levergym (make sure the Levergym’s storage posts are loaded and use a 2x4 or something similar between the bench and Levergym so the bench doesn’t slide).

Got another question; I am limited on space. Can I use my Ironmaster bench with this without any weird issues? I know the Powertec bench connects in for stability, but I would chuck some heavy plates on the weight holders to help with that.

When using bands, I recommend the Powertec bench. Oddly enough, when I had the IM Bench, I never tried to use it with the Levergym. For most exercises it will work, but I think someone recently mentioned it doesn’t work well for the Overhead Press because the frame of the bench won’t allow you to get close enough to the Levergym. I have found time and time again the sliding bench feature on the Powertec bench is invaluable for getting into the perfect position for so many exercises.

I bought a BodyMax levergym, if you google it you can see it's very similar to the Powertec. As you said, it's excellent for seated OHP facing the machine and for shrugs. Still figuring out a supported row setup. Only point I slightly disagree with you, you said you'd pair the lat tower with the multipress over the levergym. But I think the "high incline" pulley of the levergym is actually more useful for facepulls than a conventional high pulley as it gives a nice angle. And I can't see shoulder pressing on the multipress being as good as on the levergym. Anyway levergyms are very cool, tons of possibilities.

@@bmwofboganville456 good to hear you got Levergym and you’re happy with it. There are still a few cable exercises I perform on the Levergym over my stand-alone Lat Machine. I use a couple different size 2x4s as spacers to get the right distance for rows. I think you’ve seen Levergym Hacks 5, but that’s where I show a couple of my favorite set ups.

Probably add basic bench for dbs, power rack, Powertec Olympic bench for barbell pressing, with leg ex/curl attachment, and maybe Levergym. Hey man got a question is there any way yo tighten up or make my powertec FID bench more stable on back incline no matter what level of incline i have it it feels very unstable and shakes ?
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 2 ай бұрын
The only wobble you should notice is from the horizontal function of the bench…I believe it’s two wheels that travel along the track. Other than that, there shouldn’t be any movement. If there is, you will need to tighten the bolts around the bench. I show the only wobble you should notice in my new review for the FID Bench.

Powertec need to address the squat shortcomings, as in having to start at the bottom and if they didn't have the isolateral function (which I never use) it would be easier to design, as it stands I think the lever squat machine is ideal to complement this peace ............ BTW I have no issues with the bench press...I just do a slight incline .
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 7 ай бұрын
When I squat on the Levergym, I start from a standing position, remove the pin, brace it against the lever arm while squatting, and then return the pin. I have an additional pin in the bottom of the range of motion selector to serve as a safety. I never liked squatting on the Levergym until I added squat wedges which makes squats feel more effective and lower back friendly for me. As for the bench press, agreed, a slight incline is a great option to help make the movement feel more like a flat press and less like a decline press.

Thanks so much Bobby. I’m about 3 years into this channel and it has taken a few twists and turns since then; including selling almost every piece of equipment I own on 3-4 different occasions. I think you would be surprised by how many companies and products I turn down…quite a few of those pieces have recently been released and reviewed by others. There are a few reasons I turn down equipment offers, but one of the biggest reasons is time. I have a full time job (unrelated to home gym equipment) and even with the limited videos I release, it is extremely time consuming (luckily my wife is cool, but this channel take a lot of time away from her). Also, dealing with lack of space and selling or gifting equipment to make room for more equipment can become extremely stressful and time consuming. I totally get what you’re saying and I appreciate the honesty. I will tell you, my next review will not be Powertec.
