My homemade Flour Tortillas recipe is a very popular one, but there is another FASTER and EASIER way that subtracts the messiness of using your hands for mixing it together....let the KITCHENAID mix/knead the dough/masa for you!!!! This is the way my husband likes to make it, and my Daughter Rosalie, who is joining me on the show today, likes to make them! It super duper easy and fast, without any mess on your hands or fingernails! So let's have fun making them with the KitchenAid!

Makes about 16 tortillas
Ingredients:
4 cups of all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 TBSP salt you can add less if desired
4 Tbsp lard ARMOUR or EL MEXICANO or Crisco shortening
1 cup warm water ( up to 1/4 cup more if needed)
Extra flour for rolling tortillas
Comal or a griddle
Rolling pin
Directions:
Put dough attachment on kitchen aid. Then add flour into kitchen aid bowl and baking powder and salt turn on low about mix 30 seconds till combined.
Next add lard or shortening and mix for another 35 seconds till combined or longer if needed. Now start adding your warm water little by little put on low keep adding water till all combined turn on medium speed until a ball of dough forms then turn off kitchen aid . Now take dough out and knead about 1 minute or 2. Put the masa back into bowl and let rest about 5 minutes. Cover with a kitchen towel.
Now start making your balls of dough you may need a little flour if to sticky. Set balls of masa aside on counter. Put your griddle on or comal and let heat up for a few minutes on medium-high.
Start rolling tortillas with roller and put one at a time about 30 seconds or less on each side till cooked. Put them in a tortilla warmer or a kitchen towel lined with foil or wax paper. After they cool off you can put them in a ziplock baggie for up to four days or put into the refrigerator. Hope you had Fun. You can take them out and heat them in the microwave or heat on stovetop.
