How can you make your own hiking food? In this video I show you my first attempt at dehydrating eggs for later using them as hiking food on the trail. I am experimenting a lot and if you have any tips, please feel free to share them in the comments!

You want to trim off the excess paper that is above the edge of your tray. It blocks air flow and extends drying time.

Nice work Dori. Scrambled eggs on a hike is a great breakfast especially when it’s cold and you’ve got time. Bravo for going to the effort to dehydrate your own but if you can find commercial powered egg mix it’s well worth the money.

Very cool, but I wonder if the time and power usage are worth it to have eggs on a hike. Possibly for longer tips when having eggs is a great source of energy.

Not sure, I thought I would give it a try. I will be testing the commercial brands soon too...might be cheaper to buy haha
