Homemade Modeling/Texture Paste Comparison

Hey everyone!!!
Here is another great money saving tip!!!
Some of you may already know how to make your own modeling/texture paste (used for mixed media projects etc.), but I really wanted to try a few different recipies and compare the results and find out which I liked best!
So this video shows a comparison of a few different products available in stores... compared to a few different homemade recipies ;-) I then have a quick tutorial showing how I made my own paste :-)

This comes at such a perfect time! I have been thinking about buying modeling paste, and now I can just make it! YAY! Thanks for helping us save money!

Awesome! Thanks so much. I made 3 different versions. Tried the gesso and white glue and I'm really happy the smoothness and the stickiness achieved. My previous batches with just acrylic paint and baking soda were to course for applying to plastic figurines for altered art. This helped me a lot!

Thanks for the tutorial, this is a great idea. i would never have thought those things would give you modeling paste.

Great tutorial - really informative. In the past I've used BS but it didn't store well at all. Today, I've made black texture paste from talc, black acrylic and pva; it's not dry yet, but the results so far are great, it looks like rubber. When I used BS, I got a much grainier surface which I glimmer misted, it took the colour well and the glimmer really stood out.

oh...and you don't have to use gesso or mod podge. You could also use elmers glue and white acrylic paint :-) I've heard of people using those...and they like it :-)

Thank you for this tutorial, you've giving me some insight on modeling paste. Did not know there was a way to make your own paste. I'm new to scrapbooking, mix'd media, etc.

thanks so much for sharing...I too live an hour or so away from any craft stores and i needed some for a project i was workimg on...you saved me the gas and the time to take to drive out to get me some....thanks again

I've used spackle before, but I don't use it very often, so it did get a little bit of mold on the top. I love liquitex, and I hoard mine because it is expensive! I love this idea, and I am definately going to try this! I'm running to the dollar store and gettin' me some talc, baking soda, and cornstarch! Thanks Leanne! :)
