Homemade natural liquid fertilizer that is easy, organic natural and free for your organic gardening or farming practices that will be the best fertilizer for plants. Your easy homemade soil fertilizer that you make yourself will cost you next to nothing, free you from the dependency of big agricultural industries, and give you a more self sustaining farm or garden life style. If you want to know how to make garden soil healthy again then I suggest learning the natural farming practices like JADAM and KNF, Korean Natural Farming which will teach you these easy low cost practices such as this natural liquid fertilizer for plants at home that we call JLF. This vid stems from a previous vid of mine called How to Soil Block Recipe showing how to make soil blocks for seed starting without using the products from the big box stores or nurseries.
May All Your Branches Become Full of Fruit.

If your a small gardener may I suggest a brewers beer barrel it can withstand pressure and has a tap at the bottom and a twist off lid,you can filter it as you go with cut off pieces of tights,old dish cloths,sacks Etc tied around the gap then empty the bits back in the barrel. It should be said you can still top up the barrel with water and grass,nettles,comfrey Etc for years,it gets to the point where a tea spoon in 10 litres of water is enough. It's a small outlay for fertilizer for the rest of your life! Great video!

Awesome video! My dad was an avid gardener in Germany. He was using home made compost and organic methods to garden and one of the things I remember (the aroma is hard to forget) was his barrel of fermented Stinging Nettles, the contents of which he used as fertilizer and also as a foliar feed for the fruit trees. He claimed that it also kept diseases and pests at bay. I do the same now and I also use my 'gone to seed weeds' that I don't want to compost or any perennial root bits, like blackberries or buttercups and such that might grow rampant if I just throw them in a compost pile that doesn't get hot enough, this way. I haven't used the Jadam recommendation and added leaf mold in the past, so that is on my list to try for my next batch. Makes a lot of sense.

I made home-made fish fertilizer and this week I was procrastinating about putting it in rain-water, and then on the garden and in the greenhouse. I got an idea. I scrunched up / bruised the comfrey leaves and put them in the bucket. I then added sea-lettuce and rain water that I had soaked overnight. Then I added compost(incl. fall leaves). Voila....it SMELLED SO MUCH FRESHER AND BETTER ! I didn't mind applying the wonderful fish fertilizer at ALL doing it that way ! It's so neat that I came in the house to take a coffee break and up came this video ! Confirmation !

Super video! I've been doing exactly this for years and let me tell you it really works well. I couldn't have made a better video myself. You are exactly right about the smell and it gets on everything. If you splash this stuff it really makes you smell like a dead manure farmer. (Like I said in a comment on your other video and you also said. Be sure to keep it away from your house because it really stinks) I also add it to water from my stream to dilute it approx. the same amounts you suggested. As for your burning the one plant, I wish I could tell you why. Seems some plants really explode in growth with this while others can be burned. My tomatos seem to really love it. I need more study on which plants do best. Gotta be a PH thing. I never heard of JADAM but I am going to check it out. Great advice! I have found that the longer this stuff sets it needs to be diluted more. Maybe that's what he means by better. (More strong and effective. Not sure.) I find that after a couple of months it seems best. Over a year is almost to strong for my use so I use a container half the size of your can and it works out great for me. I will also be experimenting by next year with spent Brewery grains. I recently found out that a lot of micro breweries throw out spent grains after they brew. I hear they are a really good source of composting material not to mention you can probably add some to the brew mix you make since I believe it has Molasses in the grains from the brewing process. Molasses is absolutely great for feeding the microbes and everything else. Just so happens they are putting a brewery in right near me so i'll be looking into getting all I can take. Great video, very funny and informative. Glad there are other people that think like I do. Hope you do a Biochar video soon. Blessings!

A good way to collect leaf mold is to fill a couple socks with rice and bury them for a couple weeks where the leaf mold is. 🤓 The plants the fertilizer spilt on are succulents I believe and they can only tolerate a very watered down fertilizer. 😁

Hahaha I pulled a bunch of borage that was over taking a bed and a cabbage that got eaten up by cabbage worms and tossed it into a 10 gallon Rubbermaid tote, intending to take them to the compost pile. But it started storming, rained for three days and when the weather was clear my whole backyard smelled like something had died. I ended up pouring it out into a new bed over wood chips and covering the whole stinking mess with the clear tote. Doesn’t stink anymore. Guess it’s ready to fill with soil and be planted. 😆

Most people use Air Conditioning and there is always a condensation drip line that exits the house. You can always use that drip line and collect the water if you don't have a well, just keep it out of the sun while you collect the water. Would have helped to mention that the sprayers you showed towards at the end of the video (Ortho and another brand) are dilution-type sprayers. They are attached to and applied with a garden hose. These sprayers have settings on them for the uptake ratio of the concentrate that's in the jar attached to the bottom of the sprayers. Who knows what the uptake ratio should be (??) Sounds like it depends up the strength of the concentrate- which as you pointed out- typically increases with age. I'm sure there are kits out there for analyzing your fertilizer slurry for it's potency. Cost for the kits? Who knows- but the home-made fertilizer option will no longer be "Zero cost". Thanks for the video!
@timothyblazer1749
@timothyblazer1749 2 жыл бұрын
You can do the analysis in lots, so the cost wouldn't be high. Once you have the method and outcomes, you don't need the analysis anymore, unless something changes.

Might be a way to compost some of the things you are not supposed to compost, like invasive species, especialy with seeds and roots which re-grow from pieces, but you'de probably have to let it sit until even the seeds have gone to mush. Also, deep rooting plants will bring up nutrients from deeper levels of soil. Do you put the filter residue into a normal compost pile? The leaf mould makes sense for the symbiotic relationships with plants. That is a part often overlooked for the sake of NPK. I wonder if the gas coming off the bins can be harvested in an inflatable container (old tractor or truch innertube?) to use for cooking. Is it methane? The KZfaqr Rob Greenfield has a fancy domestic-scale gas digester which he puts his scraps in and turn them into bio gas.
@3basketliving
@3basketliving 5 жыл бұрын
Yes....I see this as a liquid composting method I think just about all things put in there have something to offer in nutrients. The seeds get taken care of as well not to mention your even more reassured when you filter it before usage.The filtered residue if it can be shaken off just goes back into the container and the finer stuff in the shirt or filter just gets hosed out onto the ground. I have no experience with using or trying to use any gases emitted though. Thanks. ;)

Very interesting and instructing video. Plenty of knowledge, thank you very much for your video. I made a fertilizer using kitchen organic rubbish and water. Put everything in a big container (20 gallons). I used it once without diluting it and some of my plants passed away. Then I stopped using it for quite long. Now I discovered some worms in that water. What shall I do? Shall I throw it away and make another one or filter it and use it in a diluted solution? Thank you for reading my message.

Aerobically done it won’t stink... it also won’t encourage diseases from anaerobic fermentation.

Stinky swamp water won't even come close to what it can smell like. The plants love it though. I had a 32 gallon can like that with leaves in it and it soaked for 2 years, neighbors had a grape vine next to the fence we lived in town at the time, it did really well the next two years due to just the rainwater overflowing the can. I had to dump it due to selling the house, man it stunk lol but it makes perfect sense.

I made up a batch of weed fertilizer like this and have been using it with great results so far, really appreciate you making this video and sharing your experiences with it. One thing I'm wondering is, how frequently would you suggest using this fertilizer? I see results, it's free, I'm tempted to use it at every watering! Trying to restrain myself so I don't overdose my garden LOL!

Like anything else....too much of a good thing can certainly have bad results. I do foliage feeding about once a month after the plants are up and coming from the soil at about 1:80 to 1:100 ratio with the fertilizer. Mine is aged and stabilized as well. I would certainly respect it. You can go stronger OR more often but if you start seeking unwanted results then back off of it. Thanks for your feedback.

This what I do. No particular frequency really but seems like about once a week. Weeds get picked and tossed in bucket water added then a day or 2 later it smells like poo. Pour through a screen into a watering can. Watery the roots and soil. Free just my effort. I use municipal water too. It Works fine. It does cost your time and effort but it’s worth it imo.

Wow!!!! Super good this video!!!! I don't have well water or rainwater certainly here in the panhandle of Texas (nortwest) there is not much rain... Do you think it could work if I buy a filter (garden hose water filter) to reduce the chlorine in the water? I would like to use all the leaves that I prune the tomato plants to make my fertilizer 🤔💡

Just came across your video, love the simplicity of it, I had started something similar about 6 months ago. But I toss in food scraps and my water source had come from a Koi pond., when have gone I just keep add to it but maybe should start it over from scratch. Do you ever use food scrapes?

There is nothing wrong with using your food scraps from my point of view or the JADAM point of view. Just be mindful that the strength of it could be much stronger and the smell could be too until it stabilizes. Using some LABs in it would be very beneficial for both reasons too. Cheers!
