I am retired and have a dog who wants to go outside multiple times a day. Therefore, I check my squash plants multiple times a day for squash bugs. I have noticed they are more active in the mornings and late afternoon. I have a small bottle of ammonia and a pair of hemostats that I use to pick the bugs off the plants and drop in the bottle. It is so satisfying! I smashed them last year, but the sickly sweet smell is so disgusting! I also tear the portion of the leaf if I find eggs and put it in the bottle, too. So far, so good. I have tried sprinkling diatomaceous earth on the soil, but I don't think it has been effective. Thanks for the video. I agree dropping the eggs in the soul is an idiotic idea/suggestion.

I just put a few drops of super glue on the cluster. It hardens and the eggs can’t hatch. We have kept them under control all last year and this year.
@doriswinskie70496 күн бұрын
I have had no babies since I started doing this. You can tell if the eggs have been treated because they have a shiny cover, it doesn’t do more to the leaf than a small brown spot which leaves have from time to time anyway. I spray adults with soapy water. We have very few new adults this year.

When I make yogurt using my Instant Pot there is whey that is pored off, could this be used in this process or does it need to be made with the rice wash water? Thank you
@3basketliving10 күн бұрын
I really don't know the answer. They rice water is just the bait to attract the microbes so any bait I would think might work. The only thought I have is does the whey in the instant pot have the sufficient amount of labs and does the heat of the pot kill the microbes? I don't know the answers but those are my thoughts.

Hopefully you see this even though it was posted a couple of years ago. I’m intrigued with the use of powdered comfrey my question is. Would adding frankincense E.O. At the end of the process be beneficial? I was thinking using the standard ratio of 1 drop of E.O. to 1 tsp of oil or about 30 drops per cup of mixture. Whadda think? Thx

I'm not the expert but I think at the very least it wouldn't do any harm. I just seen many recipes and decided to put my own twist on things by keeping the plant material in the mix and it just happened to turn out wonderful. I wish I was a more experienced and trained herbalist but I'm just Me learning as I go. Thanx.

I’m in southern Iowa. I have 10 acres of heavy clay soil. I’ve got about 1000 cubic yards of wood chips I’ve piled from a local sawmill. They have set from 1-4 years and the older ones have broken down a lot. If I add 100 cubic yards per acre, how much urea per acre would you recommend? I’m guessing the chips will weigh around 50,000# per acre but that varies so much due to moisture content and how much they are decomposed. I just cut wheat off of this ground and I’m planning on seeding straight alfalfa this fall (or next spring if we have a dry fall here.). I agree with the urea but I don’t know how much to use?? I’ll also add some lime and gypsum when I do this.

After cleaning my berkey filters following exactly as you directed, it was working great. This morning as I went to fill the berkey I saw mould growing on the tops of my filters. What went wrong, and can this be corrected. Should I throw them away and try to find new ones?

Just came across your video, very excited to be growing Comfrey for the first time this year. I didn’t see any comments on the dehydrator, but I’ve never seen one like yours. Can you offer any info on how that works, etc? Thanks for all the info!!!

You just MIGHT want to finish watching the videos like this one to completion, It was spoken of more than once. Being well aware of my lacking of abilities to produce videos, I kindly suggest watching them at a playback speed of 1:25 at least. I can be a little slow or long winded. Cheers!

I'm on year 4 of the back to Eden Woodchip gardening and it works for me like magic, it's absolutely amazing what it does to the soil, I have hard clay soil and it works!! So far everything I planted has grown to abundance and beyond. I try to add Woodchips whenever I see it composted almost all th way.

I'm so glad that I found your info about comfrey. I'm wasn't lucky enough to get one of your salve little jars, I live in Ontario Canada and I don't qualify for it. However I think it's wonderful you sharing your product and information. God bless you! 🙏

This year I’ve been using a combination of BTE and KNF(Korean Natural farming) JADAM solutions. I’m having the best start ever this year. Already seeing some good harvests. ( I live in the south ) It was a lot of work up front but it’s paying off now. It’s getting easier to keep up with. Less weeding, watering and fertilizing. I’m also saving money because I don’t need to buy any fertilizers or pesticides and I make my own compost.

A smart man with useful well tested information! Thank you. Never more useful than now with the “stop sale order” imposed by the EPA during their lawsuit against Berkey. There are no new black ceramic filters available. Regardless of supply, prolonging the life of these expensive filters is beneficial for all Berkey owners. Again, many thanks!!

Recently came across the subject of "interspecies communication" and have been practicing with the neighbor's dog, some local wild critters and some wasps/hornets I found building a nest just off the "busy" end of the front porch by the mailbox. I hate killing things but when it comes to bugs - aside from spiders - I will if they invade my space. So, I've been "communing" with the queen to let her know what will happen if she doesn't move her nest before it gets too far along...haven't seen any sign of her or any drones or workers but it appears there's been some work on the nest since yesterday, after a couple of weeks of no activity so...who knows. Apparently, animals count days by darkness so I'm going to give her 5 "darks" to move on before I hit her condo with some soapy water... Haven't seen any squash bugs but it's still a little early so, not sure about talking to a thousand bugs, LOL...
