Today on Dirt Lifestyle, we are building the bottom half of an overlanding tire carrier. The rear bumper on the Land Rover Discovery 2 serves as a foundation for the carrier as well as a solid mounting point for recovery.
Builds like these are a great way to challenge yourself and I never really know what the finished product will look like until I start sticking metal together. Whether this turns out looking outstanding or I decide I need to build another one I hope you guys enjoy the video! In either case, we will build a strong and creative example of what can be built with a little time and planning.
Thank you to today's sponsor Barnes 4wheel drive as well as EMS off-road for supplying the spindle kit! Once again, the spindle kit will be available through my Amazon shopping cart below.
Stay creative!

Hey folks! I have had a ton of questions about the location of the hinge for the tire carrier. It is hard to explain via text but next Sunday you will see the reasoning behind this location. I have some overlanding accessory ideas that require this to open in the opposite direction of the door. More details in the next video. Thank you for watching!

Kitchen set up soon after is my guess, I’d take a custom-made disco two over any new overlanding rig tbh. Grew up with two and have always been a huge fan. This channel has inspired a ton of close friends and I to build and create more with the resources/trails available to us in WA. Keep up the great work! 🙌

Ah. I didn’t even realize the door swings open to the passenger side. That alone is enough reason to put the tire on the driver side.

Two things that I see, that are weld prep things for any vehicle. 1. Use a battery interrupter to prevent frying any electronics in case of bad ground or weld start surge. 2. Buy fiberglass blanketing to protect paint and body from errant spatter. Makes the job look better.👍

Nate, after building a front and rear bumper with a swing out tire carrier for my old CJ5, using the exact same EMS Offroad spindle kit, brother i know exactly how long this stuff takes!!! It took me 2 weeks of long shop nights to design and build my rear bumper alone. So, thank you for making such an entertaining, and direct-to-satisfaction video!
