Powerful XL 2WD DIY electric scooter with ATV wheels and hoverboard motors - walkaround
Walkaround of my homemade electric scooter
Specs:
front and rear hoverboard motor 350w 36v
dual brushless controller 350w 48v (BLDC)
dual hooverboard batteries
weight incl batteries 26kg
topspeed with driver (65kg): 35km/h on GPS
autonomy: 10km (medium load)
controllers and brakes were purchased from Aliexpress
wheels are coming from a chinese child size 50cc ATV that was wrecked
I am currently working on another one with slightly bigger wheels.
All things that bother me on this one will be solved: will be foldable, with lights, and side stand

I use a 48v 13 cells battery and it works perfectly with good torque Congratulations !

Great Job 👍 man! I recommend you adding some electric grease in all these connectors to prevent any corrosion from happening in addition to guarantee the best electric connectivity. As you are in Germany 🇩🇪 you have liqui Moly electric grease(Battery Terminal grease) its the best on earth No question. All the best

Is it suppose to sound that way...?? Or is that an artificial noise just for pedestrians so they hear you approaching ,cuause its loud enough for the elderly.... I do like the tires n the color looks as if you went out n bought it n not built it yourself THANK YOU for this video post

Hi I am having a go at building the "volkspod" with my son - what sized tire's / wheel hubs are you using on the scooter (that you then re use) please - we are debating what kit we should be looking at on Ali express!! Many thanks Ann

I used wheels from a childs atv, tire size is 145 70 6. Good luck👍

How did you get the 48v controllers to work with the 36v battery?

They work without modification on 36v and 48v

You just open up the motor and bolt the outer shell to the wheel. Check my video of the three wheeled scooter, you can see there how I did it.

How did you fit the hoverboard wheels? Hoverboard wheels diameter is 135 mm without tire, and diameter form 7 inch wheels are 135mm to? I saw the are fit really good.... parallel

Hi, these are 6 inch. Tire size is 145/70-6. Hope this helps

how did you attached the motors to the tires?

I drilled holes in the outer shell of the motor and bolted it to the wheel using the existing holes

Do the engines not heat up because the wheels have a larger diameter ?

No, not significantly. They get a little warm but thats it

the motors are from a second hand hoverboard, wheels are from a second hand (crashed) child atv. Should be easy to find through your local second hand sites.

How do you connect 2 controllers in one throttle

Just splice the harness coming from the trigger to the second controller. Works fine. Check out the vid i posted yesterday where i use 4 controllers and 1 trigger😏
