Bivy sacks are for camping, usually used by ultralight backpackers due to their light weight and minimal size. I created one thats thick, and very durable and uses various camo covering to match the surrounding environment. Instead of it being out in the open, it uses whats called "Drag Bag" methodology. In other words, build it, then drag it inside a fallen or downed tree for further camo or stealth qualities. Its great for hidden camping, hiding from or viewing wildlife or even Bigfoot. Its heavy duty enough that the idea is to leave it set up for a month or two. Let the animals get used to it being there, let it become part of the natural environment. Then, sneak in quietly and slip inside the bivy and the animals or maybe even Bigfoot wont suspect anyone is there!

Dave I stumbled onto your channel a couple months ago and I have been watching your old videos like crazy. I have to say you’re one of the most genuine men I have saw on KZfaq… no shilling of any kind that I have saw, no commercials, no unboxing reviews, just a honest fella giving his honest opinions on what works for him!! I used to think that no one could possibly love machete’s more than my self but with out a doubt you have me beat! Thank you so much for putting out genuine content on so many things to do with the outdoors that I love!! Please never change!! Thanks and god bless you sir!

Great concept Dave. That Camo mesh looks great. As to whether I’d notice that tree as I walked through the woods, I definitely would. I’m drawn to downed trees because my brother and I used them as "huts" when we were kids in the woods. Any natural shelter was an immediate magnet for us. That being said, your setup blended perfectly and absolutely works as a stealth setup for the average eye. Good to see 2024 is starting out with great new ideas! Stay safe and keep the new concepts coming!

Dave, Nick, and family, I hope you all had a great holiday and New Year's celebration. You picked a good spot to observe deer and other non-predator critters judging by that well-worn deer path. But, I have to tell you, I wouldn't want to be on the ground anywhere near a sasquatch if one decided to give you a visit. By the look of the environment, I'd say there would be a lot of nocturnal activity. Your camo would be doubly effective, but you'd need some night-vision goggles. Again, I just heard the Chinese have developed an invisibility cloak that seems to be quite effective in bending light. Now, that would be an interesting thing to see you work with! Have a great and prosperous year.

Superb concept and build and the camo nets really work well, only slight problem I think it may be easier to enter with a long side zip instead of the top, that way the camouflage would stay in place and the weather proof flap could be secured and not disturbed. But your testing will prove or disprove that. Can't wait to see you do an overnight in it.👍

Happy New Year to you and your family! This is such a tremendous stealthy idea. I can imagine chilling in it and critter-watching. It just seems so relaxing. Your upcoming weekend adventure sounds like fun. Years ago, when we lived in a fourplex, a forest was about 10 feet from our kitchen. One day, I was cooking and looked out the window. I saw Bigfoot. Now, it wasn't flesh and blood. It was a solid form, black as night, running along the forest's edge, so close to our unit. I was frozen and watched it until it disappeared. It was huge and shaped like a gigantic ape. Truth be told, there was something not right about that forest. I had too many experiences there. I'm rambling on. --- Your videos are great. I was sick in bed for two weeks and binge-watched your older videos. I watched the cat lore video and was as nervous as you were. I kept scanning the tree lines. Have a wonderful weekend- Hollie.

I think you did an awesome job of making that and it blends in very well with the natural camouflage the tree gives it. The materials would need time to lose the chemical smells from them, so I do think leaving it out for a while would take care of that. I'm really interested in how well this will work after you've left it out in the bush for a while. With the camo, it also is specific to the area you're setting up in. But having different types and combinations of camo is a very good idea. To match different terrain types. I can see the condensation problems with such a construction if you leave it totally sealed up, but like you stated, it's not for camping, but nature observation. Probably just leaving the sides up under the camo would take care of that problem.
@Reallybigmonkey1

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Since the top is a flop over design and not zipped shut I think condensation won't be an issue but, testing will tell.

The version with the two cam-nets is simply perfect. And as far as bigfoot is concerned, unfortunately I haven't seen one myself yet, but bigfoot is one of my favorite mysteries🦶and I hope you find one (and if not, then it's still better than sitting at home in front of the TV) 🙂

Dave, you could market that item. Make it some Dave merch. Research what the cost might be to outsource manufacture....or just sell the pattern so others can build it themselves. Either way. Dave will be Dave. I just ordered a hammock from TEMU to try out next summer. I've never had a hammock before. But someone I know showed me how to use one. He also showed me knife/machete combos. Thanks, Dave. Keep up the great information and knowledge you share.

That is incredibly effective camo. I'm subscribed to your channel, but I ain't seen you in a long time. It's just messed up algorithms I guess. I think the more Brown camo is best. Kind of like the old mossy oak forest floor, that came out the same year as mossy oak breakup. I've had turkey literally run up on top of me wearing that stuff. I am making a ghillie suit. But not out of a bunch of hemp twine. I bought some cloth oak leaves made for airsoft ghillie suits. I sewed some tan fishnet to a woodland camo set of oversized BDU's. I can throw the hat down in the Autumn leaves, and stand on top of it, and it disappears. I'm so glad that I ran upon your videos again. God bless you, and all your viewers.

Hey, Dave. Hope you and the family had a great Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. Great idea on the bag. I'd worry about being warm in there. That Cordura is going to have the breathability of a zip lock bag. Other than that, looks like a great idea. Plenty of room inside, easy to get in and out of. The camo net made it work . Great idea to start the year with. Can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings. God bless ya'll in the upcoming year, and ya'll stay safe on your adventures.

Hello Brian! We had a good Christmas and I hope yours went well. I dont think breath-ability will be a problem because its not sealed up with that flap top. Plenty of room for a bag and blankets so I doubt warmth will be an issue either.Im glad you liked it. Thanks for watching and may God bless you too

Hey fella, I recently discovered your channel through looking for help with info on machetes, and after watching a few of those, I subscribed. This was the first non-machete related video I have watched. Two things I love the most is your natural curiosity and non-pretensious approach... And secondly, being from the UK, your accent is mesmerising (in a good way)... I will be watching more! Much appreciated... Puccini (UK)

Hi Dave! Happy 2024. I love your stuff but I am way too old now to do what you are doing, so I really enjoy watching your efforts and appreciate you sharing. The idea works great and I think once all set up one would have to nearly step on it to see it. I am not a Big Foot believer, but if you do actually see one it might be best to not let anyone know. People would absolutely hunt them down and do no telling what to them if good video or photos of one were to come out. Keep up the great videos!

Hi Dave, im back again. Again great vid. It has rejuvinated me to get back to the camo idea floating around my head. Just for fun ill briefly describe. A way with the mesh and something...pvc, metal wire, the something is what im struggling with. But...a way to have a quick mobile way to prowl around the river and pick a spot then just kinda crouch down and in 5 mins be covered...but able to fire. And I mean a crossbow so it has to be clear...ya know cant have mesh getting caught up. The just stay still and hunt a bit. Then move on. Anyway thats the main challenge. Luv the stealth bivy and its reinvigorated me to figure something. Ty.
