I finally have this thing all done with log deck and conveyor .It`s been working well . The bigger wood I have to recycle some. This beach log was 14`` on the but.

Have been running processors for 24 years this looks like a real good build, a little more refined with power and hydraulics and this will be a very sought after machine. Keep at it!! 👍

You did an outstanding job building this processor.

Nice work! I like the chain idea on the infeed. Very tough looking machine!

Very Nice! I can see lots of time thinking and fabricating here. Been there, doing that as we speak. LOL I tell my wife it keeps me out of trouble.

Thank you ,yeah it`s 80% thought 20% cut and weld LOL...when you get close to done you start to wonder and hope if all the time and money spent will be worth while and the thing will actually work . In my case the day I tried the first log ,big relief and pretty much worked the way I wanted . My wife was pretty understanding ( glad it worked out ....

WAY WAY WAY BETTER THAN MY BELLS 8000 PROCESSOR

Now this is a great design from what I see. I especially like how you incorporated the log infeed and holder in one. That seems to be the failing on most processors....

Thanks, the top roll is power feed with the bottom set.
@rammy6304 жыл бұрын
Well the top roll has been up graded with power feed is what I was trying to say as it was not in this vido.

i would really appreciate if you could do a in depth video of the splitter head and trailer setup i beams and wedge system, i plan on building one myself here in a year or so, and really love your setup man great job, as good as commercial
@rammy6305 жыл бұрын
Thanks Chad ... I`ll do video on this area when I get a chance. Also I now have the top press roll powered running off the bottom roll case.. This top roll can float on the log with its own weight or can be clamped down to pin a log that wants to wiggle using a valve with float position on it or down pressure . Fun stuff trying to get things to work together well. wood is so variable you know.

@@rammy630 I just saw the other video yep great design, can't wait to get this all planned out. Any info would be great.

Good solid design will last many a year , only needs bigger motor oil pump oil lines ? and a inproved cutting wedge , but for a home built system very nice
@rammy6304 жыл бұрын
Thanks ,yes it is under powered but overall works great. Since this video I turned the fuel up a little on the injection pump for a big improvement.

Everything was great about this machine except where he kept leaning over the hydraulic controls to adjust the wood in the splitter chamber. Chamber maybe needs to be more narrow V shaped, possibly spring loaded to adjust ot differing wood diameters.

Nice build. Wondering why the motor roars so much on the return stroke of the splitter ram. I would think that during this time there would be next to no load on the motor.
@rammy6305 жыл бұрын
Alan it works so because it is a 5`` cylinder with a 4`` piston rod so the return is fairly fast , lot of oil going out in a hurry . Plus The engine could use a little more power, It is Kubota v1200 it works well but the V1505 would be better.
@Alan_Hans__5 жыл бұрын
That does explain the big speed difference in the extend/retract. With the big difference in oil flow rates when extending and retracting you may have undersized hoses or valve as the return stroke flow rate will be around 50% higher than the pump flow rate.
@rammy6305 жыл бұрын
I am using 3/4`` hose in and out of the cylinder however I did notice the holes inside the ports of the cylinder are about 1/2``and they used 3/4`` pipe thread for the hoses , I`m thinking that is a restriction..
@valleyfirewood39195 жыл бұрын
@@rammy630 Probably need to use a pilot operated check valve so you return most of the oil on the return stroke to the tank vs going through the control valve. My Blockbuster processor bogged fairly hard on the return until I replumbed it. Doing that also sped up the cycle time a bit. www.splitez.com/dump-valve.html
@rammy6305 жыл бұрын
I think this is a good idea, my cyl. is 5``with 3`` rod , that is pushing crazy oil on return..Could I tee into the pressure side of cyl. with a check valve then direct to return manifold to dump some oil ? Thanks

This is a 90s kubota v1200 four cylinder diesel. Work horse.

What would you charge to build another one
@rammy6305 жыл бұрын
I would use a little bigger diesel, maybe Kubota 1505. and maybe open up the space around the wedge. all and all it works great the way it is......

You're a talented fabricator to have acheived such a fine processor. However, since you put so much time and money for this build, you deserve a box wedges so you won't need to put large pieces back to split again.

Thank you , yes the box wedge would save from recycling I`m thinking, I just don`t have a lot of diesel power........
