The small volume of the yoghurt she used is basically called an inoculum & it contains the 2 bacteria present in milk- Streptococcus thermophillus & Lactobacillus bulgaricas, the warm place shez talking about is the incubation Temp for the 2 bacteria to multiply while fermenting the milk into the final yoghurt.

This gives me all kinds of home vibes (Gabon). My great grand mother and grand mothers are like the best home made yogurt makers, that we call "Lait Caillé", that I know. The consistency comes out some smooth and tangy OMG ! I think it's time they taught me. As soon as I go back home I will make sure I learn as much as possible from them including le lait caillé.

Hello precious, I've made yoghurt twice and it all turned out slimy but thick though, the taste too was perfect. Till now I don't understand why the slime.....🤔 and it scares me to try again.

Did you use low fat milk? I suggest you always use whole milk or at least 2% fat milk. Hope this helps.

its slimy because your water was too hot by d tym u added ur greek yogurt as a culture...ensure dat ur water is really warm den it wont be slimy anymore

Thanks so much for this recipe. I tried it and it was so delish. I was surprised at how easy and simple it is. I have a worry though. The first badge I made the yoghurt was smooth and slimy but the second was not slimy but thick. Which one is the right one and what could have happened? Thanks

Hi Elizabeth, it's normal for homemade yogurt to be slimy. It looks like the first one didn't set long enough or the environment wasn't warm enough. Sometimes it doesn't set well depending on the timing and the warmth around it. I normally leave it for some more hours when that happens because I prefer my yogurt thick. There is no right or wrong consistency. Just preference. Also note that sometimes storebought yogurt contains fillers (cornstarch, pectin), which makes them thicker. Hope this helps.

Hello Good thing I found this video today I tried making a yogurt yesterday using a recipe from a friend which includes fresh milk,. Dry milk and yogurt culture.. according to him I should just mix all this ingredients together and cover in a warm place But since yesterday till now the yogurt has not set still looking watery I don't know what else to do

Hi, you have to add sugar in order to make it sweet. I said that at the end of the video. Once your yogurt sets add sugar or honey to taste. You can also flavor it with vanilla or other flavors. Hope this helps.

You can add other flavors AFTER the yogurt has set. I don't think pineapple and orange juice would work. Hope this helps.

The alternative is to get bacteria culture which can be both difficult and stressful to find, so most times you use yoghurt because it already contains the bacteria culture you need

Can you do this with coconut powdered milk and coConut yogurt.

You could make coconut yogurt but I don't think it will work this way. You'll have to get probiotics as a starter then add the probiotics to coconut milk to make coconut yogurt. Hope this helps.

Hi Christal, sorry to hear that. Yes, you can still consume it. Sometimes, it turns out slimy. That could be because the temperature in which the yogurt was kept to set was too low.
