ETA My sense of smell and taste might have returned eventually without me doing all this, but I'll tell you what I did. I am not saying it will work for everyone, but I hate not to mention it in case someone can benefit. I had no smell or taste. I started putting very pungent scented things close to my nose all day every day. I used a strong onion, garlic, lemon, orange, strong spices, unused coffee grounds, black pepper. I'd do this over and over regardless if I could smell them or not. I'd sniff them, not just hold them under my nose. Finally I started smelling them. It took a week or more , but it did work for me. For awhile I had a constant smell of smoke in my nose. I thought someTHING (not someone) was burning. I started first tasting sour, sweet, salty and spicy, but no distinct taste. I had an aversion to meat and most savory, but did like sweets. It finally improved to where I have my sense of smell and taste back. I surely hope this helps anyone who has lost their sense of taste and smell. I also took ibuprofen for any inflammation that might be going on. Mine may have been a different cause, but hopefully this will work for someone.

im 38 now about 6 years ago i lost sense of smell and just like you mentioned at the beginning i used to also in my head smell of something was burning, i watched so many videos of people like dr berg dont eat carbs and sugar and took so much B1 zinc potassium ACV, excersize two hours aday fast over 18 hours, and i even met a doctor in london made me do operation told me that i had extra meat pulips that needed to be removed and still i never got back my smell,, its really stressing me alot, but i sometimes can smell for couple of hours when i really do intense workouts but shortly after i loose it. i will try your method this whole month and hope fully it will work,,thank you for sharing your experince,

You are quite the storyteller, Dixie. When you described what things smelled like to you, I got a little queasy. When you shared what doctors were saying about everyone being crazy or anorexic, I got mad. When you all got better, I cried. When you spoke so kindly of David, I wanted to hug him. I'm so happy for you and your family.

After watching this video, I called and made an appointment to go see David. My husband and I will be making the 1700-mile drive from Idaho next month to hopefully get the same success you got. 2 ½ years of little to no taste or smell with distortion. I am ready to sell my left arm to get my senses back. Thank you for this video. Fingers crossed for me🤞

@Lora Same here with the time/effect. I’ve been wrestling with self worth and the possibility of ending it; It has affected me that severely. It has literally taken my livelihood (chef) from me. I won’t give up though. I love living too much, even with losing a lot and all the bs happening with our elected officials & “health” experts. In the end, I belong to G-d & He alone; therefore I’ll be OK.

Thank you for sharing your story. I lost both my senses of taste and smell due to the virus in June 2020. My senses are not distorted; they are turned off. As an avid cook and baker, I have been devastated by these lingering symptoms. I am happy that you and your family had positive results!

I am so sorry to read this… have you had any luck getting them back? I just lost my taste and smell for a week and would almost tear up thinking about it being a permanent thing… but luckily mine are getting back to normal with the exception of a few things smelling kind of rancid to me, but it hasn’t affected taste to food or anything so I’m grateful!

My daughter had a strong food aversion as a result of all her bowel disease and I understand how watching a loved one lose weight because they just cannot bring themselves to eat. My wife and I lost our smell and taste from Covid in November 2021 and it was one of the most depressing things I have ever dealt with. It takes your joy away. I recovered mine after 2 months, but my wife still has a lot of blank spots. I am mostly normal, but I find that if I smell something bad my brain won't forget it and will make anything off smell like that for days. It's weird. I'm glad there's hope for a fix, it sucks so bad and people that haven't dealt with it do not understand. It really seems to be an early covid thing and doesn't happen as much anymore (thankfully).

Great video as usual. Glad the therapy worked for you and your family. Being unable to smell food is quite alarming but being unable to smell lethal odours, such as H2S hydrogen sulphide aka rotten egg gas is potentially lethal, we are able to avoid lethal poisons due to our sense of smell. I've been going through this for close to 2 years as well. What you're saying about difficulty managing weight is definitely true. I gained close to 50 lbs after losing my taste just due to the effect that not being able to taste had on my mental process. It made me wake up every day hoping I could taste something again. I tried to eat different foods and taste different things with absolutely no change in taste or smell. This is one of the most frustrating things I've ever experienced but it's been good in the end. I've definitely grown from it. I've been dieting the last 4 months and I'm down 44 lbs and feeling much better about myself. I was able to clean my sinuses with a navage and regain some of my taste and a little bit of my smell but I still lack most subtle tastes and smells. I've learned to live with it for now but I thank you for posting this because I may go this route some day. Thank you so much!

Quite a story, wow! Haven't heard of your channel, but algorithm pushed this today, and the outstanding thumbnail caught my eye lol. I had no idea parosmia could be so bad that people are dropping this much weight. Tragic. I always feel so sad and frustrated when I hear stories of women not being taken seriously by medical professionals. Glad you found a method that works, and congrats on getting your smell back! That virus is no joke, the way it causes actual brain damage... Thanks for sharing your story. Fascinating

11/21 Covid, I lost mine and it sucked worse than the bodyaches and chills. 3 weeks later both came back. First the smell then taste. Never had weird smells. Every day I would open up smelly things like coffee cans, peanut butter bread, (warning..my poo) etc and tried in my mind to smell or think about the smell. The loss of taste resulted in me not able to eat sardines or slimy foods. It grossed me out without the taste. I like to think that trying to smell helped me regain the smell. The first taste that came back was a sweet chocolate. I was like YEAH! I m a guy and have heard and know girls who have had lost their smell taste for long time like y’all.

As someone who's also 2 years post-COVID with major smell and taste changes, thank you for giving me hope! I didn't realize how much I also miss coffee and garlic until you brought it up. I miss smelling petrichor, and waking up in the woods to the scent of damp evergreen needles. I miss smelling my late grandma's perfume and being brought back to hugging her. I had honestly made myself give up hope of regaining my normal senses, because that was easier than being let down. I'll have to look in to this nerve block and see if there's anyone near me doing it with success.

I have had 0% ability to smell or taste for almost 11 yrs since I had a virus which I think was whooping cough. I had no idea that it was called Parosmia and that so many other people suffered with it. There probably isn't much hope for me after this long. We are always behind in Canada with these kind of procedures. So happy for you!
