hey, sis!! let's chat, toda/y's question: where are you in your "homemaking" journey? are you new(er) to it like me, haven't given it much though yet, pretty seasoned in the game or somewhere in between?! let us know in the comments 👇🏽♥ for me: as you can tell, we are still making our way but I'm proud of the progress so far. I wish I knew in the beginning that these habits don't just develop overnight and how important it is to do it all as if it's JUST for God!

I’m both new and seasoned in a way😂 because I was raised at a homemaker but struggled with depression for so long that I had to start building habits all over again. I definitely want to become more versatile in my cooking, and I know that taking care of a husband and kids in the future will add to the workload, but for now, I’m pretty happy with where I am💛

Thank you for this refined definition of how the Bible calls women to steward the home. As a Christian, and a working wife and mother I watch and enjoy the content of many KZfaqrs who talk about Christian wifedom and femininity but often feel lacking as I don't home school, homestead or remain in the home 7 days a week. The way youve broken down the original Greek translation offers much needed compassion and reassurance for godly women like me.

While I don’t have a husband or children right now, I totally do the “bite by bite” method. It literally helps with controlling stress. I try to encourage people to try it when they’re stressed but I think some feel like they won’t get things accomplished if they don’t do it all at once. I set a schedule, usually over a week’s span. I usually have a minimum or 1-2 micro goals to tackle everyday and 1-2 macro goals to tackle every week. I also usually have a day when I don’t do any labor. I definitely see myself carrying this over into marriage. I also love your “do it for the Lord” suggestion. It’s easy to slip into wanting praise from people, but really meditating on getting our glory from the Lord is top tier. It gives us so much peace about our tasks and accomplishments. God bless you, Melody. ❤

I learned to love taking care of the home. I built habits by starting with the tasks and meals I enjoy the most, and once I was consistent with that, others followed. Some tasks I’ll never love🤣 but singing or listening to my favorite podcasts or Christian KZfaqr *cough* Melody🥰 makes it easier!!

I believe these "priorities" shift and move in each season of life. I can understand listing in the order presented. However, not every woman will be successful putting themselves after spouse or baby. There will be times in life/ marriage when your health, mental and physical needs will come before a spouse or even a child. Of course God is first in all things. Im a married woman of 12 almost 13 years and I speak from my own experience. I want married woman to know its ok and its not unbiblical (im not inferring Melody is stating it is) to put yourself first....especially, if you are feeling overwhelmed and rundown ❤.

Cleaning and keeping my area clean has always been a hard thing for me. My place tends to get out of hand and then I get overwhelmed and don’t know where to begin. I feel God has been on me lately about it. I literally said today that I wanted to have lunch with God and I apologized to him for the mess. Thank you for this message. It was definitely right on time!

I am a wife and mother of 3, and my husband and I are pastors of our churches youth ministry. I feel like I have so many eyes on me, that it pushes me to not be perfect but to be transparent. So with homemaking, not making this picture perfect home but show that God's grace is sufficient. As a steward of all that God's given me, I make sure to practice the fruits of the spirit as I work with my children. And remembering, that I want my children to remember me as a joyful mom, not a stressed out mom.

I used to loathe cleaning and allat but later last year, God started to change my habits. And it's soooo goood. I remember when I was unsaved and going through it, I would sleep with trash in my bed. Now I'm making my bed, cleaning bathrooms, vaccuming, doing the whole 9. It brings me joy and clarity but I still have some ways to go but learning to enjoy the process fasho. Thank you for this video sis!

I've been a subscriber to Melody's channel for a long time but rarely ever comment but on this one I had to. This has literally been on my mind for a very long time, way before I had my son who is now 4yrs old. I've prayed to God so much asking him to help me in getting me and my sons life in order but after listening to this I realise that I've been rushing everything because I want to make up for all the time I lost when I was in the 'world'. The list (literally love lists! 🥰) has honestly given me a visual help moving forward. And like Melody said about having thoughts and feelings of not having time I've come to the point where I quickly notice it, stop (literally!), take a deep breath hold it and slowly breathe out, and the while saying to myself "Be Still and know that I am God" it honestly helps me every single time.

I’m in a place where I recently started trying to be more intentional about homemaking. Especially being single I wasn’t thinking about homemaking my lil apartment lol. But like you said, my home was given to me by the Lord, and I want to be a good steward of my gifts. It’s still a work in progress to do it as unto the Lord, but I’m working on that! Plus, I’m sure starting good, godly homemaking habits now will help me to serve my future husband/ kids/ home well. 😊

I’m currently in the enjoy the ride stage. As my family and I will be moving soon. I’m starting to develop good habits like meal prepping, couponing and etc. these are things that will help my anxiety and our family in my opinion. I’ve also recently cut my screen time down so that I can focus more on my husband and son. “One bite at a time” was confirmation because it’s soo much I want to accomplish that I get overwhelmed and I don’t focus on the present moment. Trusting God and watching him work in my life has become my new goal.

Hi Melody, thank you kindly for this video reminding us of the importance of being a good homemaker as a woman of God. I am 40 and have been married for 19 years with four kids in my home. My husband and I separated last year. It has been a devastating turn of life circumstance and I have been trying to navigate between healing my heart and still providing a clean loving nourishing and nurturing home that is filled with God’s presence as well as try and grow my finances. It has been a painful journey but praise God. He has kept me and given me rest as I work on prioritization. I would love to hear more about how your mom handled the pain of divorce while still managing your home and finances. Maybe you could have her come on and share her testimony. Thank you again Melody.

I read your comment and this verse came to mind for me to give to you. Psalm 34:18. That would be a good starting place to stay in God's presence until the pain gets better and he will walk with you thru this season and all the pain and then he will walk you out into the next season of your life whether that is with or without your husband. Also, I dont know what you what to happen in terms or reconciliation or divorce but God is able to restore marriages if that is the desire of both parties. But he will also give one or both parties the desire of their heart to be divorced although he would rather the marriage be preserved. I pray that he guide you into his perfect will and heal you in the process....

I thought it was wearing dresses, cooking with an apron, making breads and on and on (which are beautiful because I do feel feminine when I do) but I really appreciate the new found understanding of what homemaking is. I am currently rewatching this for the second time and I love these 5 breakdowns. Especially reminding me to take this bit by bit & remembering I am doing this for God. I've always been an extremely cleanly person but at some point I felt that my home lacked a sense of warmth. I also hated cooking everyday. As a single mother of two children, I can’t relate to any of this because I do the cleaning and encourage my children to also do cleaning behind themselves as well, and I’m currently making a posterboard for my eight-year-old son, because he constantly forgets what he needs to do, so I’ll be going to dollar tree today and get markers and setting up a posterboard for things. He needs to do every single day of the week on a daily because he’s so forgetful. I have a 14-year-old daughter and she keeps her room in order majority of the time but she feels entitled to not help around the house and like I told her that’s not going to happen because doing your daily chores taking out the trash and helping your little brother with his homework , and keeping your room clean and washing the dishes and cleaning the bathroom are all things that are manageable. My son is still working on taking out the trash because he is eight years old. He can’t carry yet, but I have showed him how to wash dishes and I have showed him how to microwave his own meals and I have shown him how to clean out the toilet and I’ve shown him how to clean out the sink and he also knows how to vacuum a little bit but it’s still a work in progress because I work full-time and I am gone before he even gets up out of the bed because I work 12 hour shifts and yes I’ve been looking for a job but the state of Virginia holds your background against you. It’s taking me three years to actually get a job and to get a three bedroom apartment so my son is available to have his own room.. On my off days, I usually do the cook and cleaning, but my lupus locks up my hands and sometimes I can’t walk due to swollen feet and swollen ankles and my joints lock up due to this illness, and I’m tired of going to rheumatologist and they’re not telling me anything about this condition or what diets can help me so I no longer go to rheumatologist and I’ve had two surgeries . One involving a mass in my breast pre-cancerous cells being removed from my uterus, which had to have my uterus cut halfway off. I would love to be a stay at home wife with just a responsibility of just my kids, but I’m the leader in my household, so no homesteading for me, I hope to find a loving husband like you, but I hope my husband will love my kids, because neither of their fathers are around and abandon their responsibilities.

I'm new to the homemaker journey this is going to be my first home where I live alone with my children. I definitely needed to see this video. I'm trusting the process so I know God is in control.

I'm 5 years into my home making journey and I am a momma to a soon to be 4 year old little girl. I'm a corporate girly but took all of 2023 off to be a full time homemaker and student (tertiary education). I have enjoyed my time at home and been so blessed to have taken this break. Also proud that I have managed to do most of the 5 pointers you have spoken about but I need to heed number 5. I have a tendency to rush through it all 😅 Thank you for this video.

Thank you for doing this video. This is something God is leading me in. I am currently in the decluttering season. It was overwhelming, but I started breaking in down into portions and allowing myself grace.

I love that priority list and spending our time on what matters most is so impactful. I classify myself as a 'working homemaker' since I juggle homemaking with paid employment. I'm also not yet in the season of baking my own bread 😅Thanks for the reminder to just enjoy the journey!

Thank you for this conversation. This topic has been in my prayers and what I have been Journaling about most recently. God has laid it on my heart so thank you for added to my conversation with the Lord and following God's instruction to have this conversation as well. Society definitely has taught us to prioritize ourselves and rush through life and God so beautifully makes order for us to manage it all, slow down and enjoy life while being grateful for the task at hand. So thank you, God bless! ❤
